I had to import most of my games from the US. I really can't believe it! Nintendo of Japan have fuck all on their Wii released dates for Japan in May or June. Well, that's a lie, they have fuck all worth buying unless you're a kid. Just look at what we have :crying: May 14th - Winning Eleven 2009 May 21st - Some gimiky RPG by Taito and released by Nintendo May 28th - Ougon No Kinzuna (RPG by Jelaco, yeah like anything Jelaco makes is great:banghead: ) Great line up, aye? It doesn't get any better in June. June 4th - Ark rise Fantasia (another RPG) June 25th - Top Spin 3 (great, tennis with gimmicky controls) June 25th - Sim Racing It wasn't much better in April with only Oboromuramasa worth getting and fuck all in March. So far this year I've imported: Mad World - because of no Japanese release The House of the Dead Overkill - because of no Japanese release 007 Quantum of Solace - because it took forever to get a release over here Lego Indiana Jones - because of no Japanese release The Simpsons game - because of no Japanese release and in June I have the following coming from the states: The Conduit - because of no Japanese release date so far Ghostbusters - because of no Japanese release date so far Indiana Jones - because of no Japanese release date so far and I'll probably have to import Dead Space as well because it unlikely get a release over here. In fact the only Japanese game I'm looking forward to is horror game, Juon (The Grunge is it called in the west?) What is Nintendo of Japan doing? Do they actually have a say what can be released on the Wii in Japan? All we seem to be getting is kiddy shit or family crap with the odd good game every other month just like they did with the Cube and N64. :crying: Thank God for the Soft mod  Yakumo
The thing about the Wii in Japan is that fact that Nintendo first and second party titles do sell well but most third partires are not selling any decent number of games. Take a number of third party software companies and the best selling game they would have had would have probably been on the Playstation 3 rather then the Wii... If you take software sold against the user base and the third party software attachment rate is pathetically small, so small that the Xbox 360 does look like it's doing better. And even on the PS2 a lot of american software never got released or got released far too late and again it sold like ice cubes in the north pole... so I think you should shut up whining, you bought the Wii, you knew that Nintendo might release games at children and families on it, but your pride stopped you from buying a PS2. Anyway to prove a point... Konami PS3 - Metal Gear Solid 5 - 674,000 Wii - Powerful Pro Baseball 14 (!) - 138,000 Capcom PS3 - Biohazard 5 - 455,000 Wii - Biohazard - Umbrella Chronicles - 283,000 Sega PS3 - Ryu ga Gotoku 3 (Yakuza 3) - 469,000 Wii - 428 Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de- 106,000 Koei PS3 - Shin Sangoku Musou 5 - 411,000 Wii - Sangoku Musou Katana - 35,000 (yes that is thirty five thousand...) Square Enix have released one game on the PS3 and it's 007 - QoS and it's sold a breath taking 9,000 copies... which ironically sold bearly under 2,000 copies on the Wii...
I think 007 sold really poorly on the Wii is because you can't find the bloody game. I didn't even know it was released in Japan until seeing a link for it on Nintendo's site. The thing is that the Wii has some fantastic games that are not on the PS2. Some games that look and play very well with the Wii controls such as THOTD Over Kill or Mad World. Those games just wouldn't be the same on the PS2. The comparison of game sales isn't really fair either as you'll see: Konami PS3 - Metal Gear Solid 5 - 674,000 - Great game that EVERYONE wants! Wii - Powerful Pro Baseball 14 (!) - 138,000 - Shite baseball crap that's identical to EVERY OTHER version before it Sega PS3 - Ryu ga Gotoku 3 (Yakuza 3) - 469,000 - Yep, great game Wii - 428 Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de- 106,000 - Err, not for me and not really in the same league as Ryu ga Gotoku to be fair. Koei PS3 - Shin Sangoku Musou 5 - 411,000 - More of the same but at least it's good Wii - Sangoku Musou Katana - 35,000 (yes that is thirty five thousand...)Not surprised there. That game is shite OH: Capcom's Bio Hazard isn't that bad really considering the Wii's main focus base and that it was released over 1 year ago. Yakumo
I went do to my local Yamada and Wonder Goo and both of them had the game in stock on both formats... I'm not arguing that, although there are so few of them... There is no reason why THOTD Overkill wouldn't work on the PS3 with the Guncon 3... although any games you own that don't involve killing things in an ultra violent way by waving the Wiimote? It's fair, mainly as I am only quoting the best selling game by that company on the hardware. How about... Winning Eleven 2009 - 391,000 Winning Eleven 2008 - 321,000 Which compares well with the Wii game Winning Eleven 2008 Playmaker - 109,000 Comparing baseball games the PS3 one sold less but comparing the difference in hardware sales is still respectable. Pro Yakyuu Spirits 5 - 112,000 No course not, one of them got a perfect score in Famitsu and the other got 38/40 and was called Ryu ga Gotoku 3... Ironically it's destined to be the worst selling perfect score Famitsu game ever. I could have said Valkyria Chronicles which sold 194,000 on the PS3... Ironically Sonic the Hedgehog which should do better on the Wii, hasn't really. Sonic and the Secret Rings has sold 35,000 which is the same as Sonic the Hedgehog on the PS3. Even if I compared like for like, the PS3 still has outsold it, although that's unfair as Koei games tend to be more serious and probably not suitable for the Wii... Again more to show that despite the large install base that Capcom have sold better on the PS3. Capcom with 5 games have sold over 1.2m games in Japan on the PS3, with the Wii and 10 games they have sold 888,000... I missed Namco Bandai Taiko Drum Master Wii - 511,000 Gundam Musou - 340,000 The Gundam Sensen 0079 game on the Wii sold 110,000.
Yeah, but you live in tokyo. in Kita Kyushu which isn't the sticks we can't see the game on any format. same goes for Shimonoseki where I live. Most games I own don't involve waving the Wii remote Mad World does but in a pratical way. Most of the games I like hardly land in the gimmick group. I normally use the classic controller if the option is there
You are not the only one... I honestly cannot use the Wiimote in wise of motion because I lack the space to move with one and the fact that I'm just so use to using a controller at this point... As far as the Wii games are concerned... That's a real shame there, however isn't MH3 coming out in Japan first? ( or have they decided to do a global release? )
You all seem to ommit the thousands who pirate games on the wii whilst virtually no known retail pirating is possible on the PS3 Furthermore, I think a fair share of publishers are making a mint thanks to their olden games, which are quite numerous on the Wii, costs them next to nothing to produce (well with a few exceptions) and aren't cheap. WiiWare's profit margin are I guess lower but there's good games there as well. Jamtex, your Sonic examples are fitting at first glance but you're comparing apples to dynamite. The Wii Sonic games aren't Sonics proper, they're half-assed attempts using Sonic as a mascot and speed as eye-candy. It's only natural that fans would prefer a more original gameplay mechanic instead of what's found in Secret Rings, Black Knight and even Unleashed (wii edition). IMHO Unleashed on Wii was total crap compared to the x360 version - the PS3 version was mediocre technically. Unleashed on Wii ranks lower, for me, than Secret Rings, and looks uglier than even Sonic Adventure 1, 2 and heroes
me likes contra spirits the better :110: anyway, noone played the rebirth so far, I guess. let's talk again after playing it^^
I m starting with the way it looks. I hate it when they round up old 8bit graphics, they look crapper. I like the solid 8bit graphics better.
Wii Ware doesn't really count but saying that I will be getting Contra re-birth next week when it's released. Contra Spirits would have been better though. Just think, a version of Contra Spirits with graphics in the same league as 朧村正. Yakumo
