I quit work today. It feels good knowing I won't have to wake up at 4:00 a.m. anymore. It feels good knowing I won't have to work long hours of hard labor in that hot factory anymore. It feels good knowing that I won't be confused almost every time someone tries to talk to me anymore. I'm glad.
It's things like these that make me feel lucky to be paid $6.50 an hour to stay on the internet all day . I'm cut off until they finish my office, though .
I was making $8.92 an hour and $13.38 OT. We worked 10 hour days (6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), and the work was hard, especially on your hands. I worked on the carousel, where the actual chainsaw assembly took place.
Yeah, that sounds rough. I like my job for the most part. Free T1 connection is great anywhere, even more so when you're getting paid to sit there and use it . I do my fair share of real work, though. When there's a problem with a computer out in the plant, I have to run out there and repair/replace it. Those are the greasiest, nastiest computers you can imagine. It's also about 110 degrees out in the plant at any given time (feels good in the winter, though).
Wow! Do you mind if I ask where you worked? It almost sounds like a place I worked for before. (Same pay, hours, labor...)
Electrolux, home products factory. There are two sides of the Factory Electric and Gas. The electric side was responsible for electric Trimmers, Chainsaws, Blowers, and Hedgers. Also located on the electric side was an extra line, which could run gas or electric, where they made Gas Trimmers, Blowers, and Hedgers. Then there was the Gas side, where I worked. All we ever made was chainsaws. The line I worked on did mostly Husqvarna chainsaws, which are the hardest ones to build. Oh, and the electric side was always cool because they had AC, but the Gas side didn't, so it was very very hot. If you call "handing the supervisor my badge and leaving" going out with a bang, then yes.
make sure you add your cup with it with a nice happy note ^^ my job sucks because of the pay rate, its shit. but i dont get as many hours i want, and the hours i do get totally knock out my evening. to deal with as many idiots a day as i do, i need to get paid more ;_;
