Wondering why the hell a bunch of people were gathered around outside the Hachiko (more than usual), I could see some goofy, over 6-feet tall blue character in the middle. Assuming it was Sonic, I swung by. Low and behold, there he was, the center of attention -- next to his cruel master, Yuji Naka.

Apparently it was Sonic Team's Oiwai party tonight, and some of the crew from Shibuya Gigo had them go through some charade by the station (I actually knew two of the 4 staff helping at the event -- being the only white guy that habitually plays VF4 at Gigo does that).

While I wish I could say that he told me that all future revisions of PSO will be hack-free, and that they promise to iron out all the crappy bugs of the next Sonic game... he just kinda smiled, posed for pictures, and seemed to be having fun w/ his colleagues.

I took some pictures on my keitai, but they suck shit, so probably won't post them. This is my first celebrity spotting of a Japanese person, where I actually knew who they were BEFORE seeing them. Other ones include various various pop-culture icons, walking right by Tom Green and not even noticing him, and just about every DJ from the UK that's worth two shits.

Oh come on, post the pictures! They may not be the best quality ever, but I'm sure many people including me would like to see them.

wow that's pretty cool! The chances of running into Naka in a city as big as Tokyo must be microscopic :smt023

I wonder if Tom Green was doing his "Subway Monkey Tour" when you saw him... that was great stuff :smt043

Gaijin Puch is one lucky bugger :smt023 Wish I was there.

I saw quite a few pop idols while living in Tokyo but only met one. It was Ryoko Hirasu. She was a friend of my friend's girl friend if you can follow that. For those who don't know Ryoko Hirasu was a teen pop idol who later became an actress.

I probably could've literally ran her over and not known who she was... I know dick about Japanese pop culture. I really don't watch TV, and the crap my wife watches are the shows where they just talk and eat food.... okay, that's like everything on Japanese TV, but you get my ideas.

I do see young, filthy girls doing photo shoots in Yoyogi park in the mornings when I ride. I could've sworn I saw one on a fine clear morning, then saw her on TV later that day (as a guest on a show, meaning she was quite popular). Then again, that would take some type of dedication to figure out, so I just let it go.

I'll email the pics to work and upload them somewhere... remember, they're like 120x80 to begin with, and blurry on top of that... you'll barely be able to make out Sonic. :)

I met John Romero (Co-Creator of Doom, Quake, and Daikatana), shook his hand, and talked with him at an IGDAOrlando Chapter Meeting. The same with Warren Spector at a different IGDA Orlando Chapter meeting(Creator of System Shock 1&2, Thief 3, and Deus Ex 1&2). The same with Lars Ulrich (METALLICA :prayer: :prayer: ) while working at Disney, served him his dinner, kick ass cool guy. :smt023 . He wasn't with the rest of the band, he was with a few other guys and a hot chick. I think he's married (this was about a year go).

However, I missed the oppurtinity to eat dinner with Yuji Naka when he was down in Miami 2 years ago. It was a big IGDA thing for the South Florida Chapter and the Orlando Chapter was invited. They got him as the honored guest. I had to cancel because I came down with a fever, someone else took my place who ended up sitting right next to him at the big event where we had assigned seats. That could've been me :smt022 . But that was a good thing because I ended up throwing up that evening when they were all down there. So if I took the chance to go down there and sit next to him, my puke would've be on Yuji Naka and other people so it was a good decision I stayed. Otherwise I would've killed myself soon afterwards.

You got that right. The Japanese idea of great TV is watching some over paid no talent "TV Talents" talk crap and eat whist having orgasms over the food (because is supposedly taste so good) when it's the same shite they eat every day. I also hate the way that when ever someone eats something on Japanese TV they will say that food is delicious even when the expression on their face tells you it's not. So annoying !! :smt011

I'm watching Takeshi's Castle on Challenge TV and wondering what ever happened to these great TV shows. There certainly isn't anything like this on TV now unless they are all on Satellite TV. Closes thing I've seen is Pusuma.

Sorry for my rant. Just hate Japanese TV "no" talents and shows so much.

  11. Takeshi's Castle is some good shizzle. The dub they showed here was filmed in How-they-lied-o-vision though.

    Takeshi's Challenge

Spike TV airs it over here as Most Extreme Elimination Challenge but they made their own dubs but they are fairly vulgar, yet funny.

I once shook hands with the former boss of the Dutch brand of Commodore (he lives a few 100 m from here, responsible for the Dutch C64 introduction). When I left he said "goodbye, geek" - that just warmed my heart :smt043
