I do build these with a buddy of mine. This one is a 2.5hp 4 stroke, goes about 35kmph. My second one is in progress, frame is built. Just goto buy some missing parts. It will have a 5hp engine. Hope to get atleast 40+ from it. There just great stupid fun that really gets the drunks at the local pub going. (alot of offers to buy it) Just thought some of ya might get a kick outa my other hobby ...after gaming
yep, got a few vids of it in action, I'll just have to install my MiniDV software first as I just reloaded recently. O and with that big ass pipe on it, it pisses off the guy a few doors down as its louder then is motorcyle..hehe
That's really awesome, videos would definately be appreciated. :-D I remember some friends doing a project like that once back in high school metal shop class - they took a riding lawnmower, removed the blade assembly and grass catcher, and with some selective gearwork managed to coax about 20-25MPH out of the thing. Unfortunately, during it's first test run the steering went out and it crashed through the fence of some people living next to the school. It was pretty funny to watch.
I dont have any sorta build instructions as we more or less figured it out as we went on the first one. And yes canada is metric, states is one of the few left that arent i think now. There typically called Bar Stool Racers here, and the motor we use is uaally a 4 stroke roto-tiller engine. Anything from a 2-9 hp will do fine. All metel including frame is hand built and about 95% of the parts needed we get from a place near by called Princess Auto.
Next photo is my new one (build in progress) we are building for this year that will have the 5hp in it i got last month..for FREE
We have lawn mower races in my town.. they go up to 60-70 km/h ... if u change parts of the engine everything is possible
O ya those riding lawnmowers are crazy, the things are so tuned for speed there usless for anything else.
Uh, no. BTW, I don't have a truck. Nope, you're wrong too. I'm guessing some of you have never seen a riding lawnmower before. Anyway, the one I have has a 19.5HP engine, which could easily propel the mower to speeds of up to 70mph with some simple modifications.
Heck, a lot of the newer ones go fast enough unmodified. And you've gotta love hydrostatic transmissions. :-D
