The Flood of Birthday gifts are arriving today was the first one, My 3d Saturn Pad. AND OH BOY was this one a doozy. For one thing it was dirty as shit and the real kicker the thing reeked and I mean REEKED of Pot you wouldn't get a stronger pot smell if you were at a Cypress Hill, Greatful Dead, Dave Matthews, Phish super show.

I spent a good 15 minutes cleaning and disinfecting it and MY GOD I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER EVER seen a D-Pad that dirty in my life.

Now I know Assembler gets plenty of damaged items....

but who else has gotten something in the mail that smelled like Cheech and Chong's Basement?

I bought an XBox from eBay once that came from Georgia. Not only did it have a healthy amount of rust but there were plenty of dead cockroaches under the mobo.

I just tested the pad with Daytona Champion circut. It works... but even after 12 go over with Clorox green... it STILL REEKS OF POT

XBOXes are known for being roach motels

Considering I've cleaned it 20 times and the Smell STILL isn't gone........

I think it might be very likely either Cheech and Chong or Cypress Hill

The Amazon Seller told me after I left the negative feedback that the controller was picked up at an estate sale it shipped from California so who knows who owned this ganjafied Saturn Pad before me.

you could try wraping it in dryer sheets and stuffing it full of dryer sheets and let it sit in a sealed box
for a day or two or maybe a week and see if that helps

    or maybe ferbrise

    Strange post...

Anyway, I have gotten many products that reeked of cigs, but only one that smelled of pot. That was a copy of MGS for PS1, and man did it reek. The instruction manual seemingly produced most of the smell, and it appeared to be all wrinkly from being waterlogged.

This post made me think of something else strange though that I thought Id share.

When the PS1 was still new and games were being rented out for it everywhere, I rented some old long-box title out, and when I got home and removed the disc from its case, I noticed a bit of resistance. Looking at the bottom of the disc, someone had spread peanut butter all over the it.
    So fucking random.

Here's a few examples of repairs I have to deal with....

There is an XBOX under there somewhere
    [IMG]

PS2 that smelled of POT and I swear that is residue in there..

And an N64 that I think didn't survive the Brisbane flood in 2011

i'd recommend citrus products for cleaning or a DIY concoction with lemon / orange juice, water and washing up liquid.

Years ago I remember an incident with an N64 that was filled with roaches. It is promptly thrown out the second story window and doused with water. Once it dried out it worked like a champ. Gotta love Nintendo build quality. :encouragement:

    ^_^_^

That is foul, what are people thinking. :disgust:

ewww @ snot in the manual

another note on the smell. pay particulat attention to the rubber parts like the wire as that holds smell more then the hard plastic

I once bought a few gamecube games from a garage sale and one had a small baggie of an unidentified off-white powder tucked inside the manual. Was going to go and give it back but I figured they're better off without it.

My local pawn shop used to sell filthy controllers for real cheap. Like $2 for ps2, $5 for 360, $10 for ps3.. Every time I went I'd buy and take them home to clean. Amazing what you can get for cheap because others are too lazy to put in some effort!

I've discovered why it smelled so strongly of weed.

Dryer sheets thrown in and sealed with a sandwich bag have made a worlds difference to my controllers/games that have come in with a rank smell.
