Maybe somebody here can help me.

My computer is about a year old. running a 3GHZ Pentium 4 1 gig of ram with a Gforce FX 5500.

I have 2 issues with it 1 since I got the computer and the other over the last few weeks.

the first problem is a "paperfold effect" when I run Emulators like MAME and ZSNES and every genesis emulator I've tried the game is so torn I can't even play it

The new issue is the screen going black for a few seconds if too much is going on like if I have Frostwire open and AIM the screen will go blank, sometimes it's when I'm watching Non flash movies (any format MPEG, WMV, AVI, Real Media) screen with flash black for a second sometime my system will reset. (it's like my computer wants to remind me of the sopranos ending or something)

I updated my drivers and the problem went away for a short time but now it's back.

    WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

sounds like a problem with the v-sync, try a different refresh rate or screen resolution, or try running the games without loads of graphic filters etc, and fiddle about with the screen buffer options

as for the screen going blank, sounds like some soft of software conflict, check to see what you have running in the background at the time

finally this should be moved to the computer support forum

Try running 3DMark03 and see if it gets thru the whole batch of demos (it doesn't matter if its slow) and look at each test. If you see any weird 'stuff' on the screen then its a sign that your card might be going bad.

My old Radeon 9700 did this to me on Doom 3 before it went kaput. Maybe it's too hot?

    I dunno I'm hoping it's just a minor issue.
