http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwLCcYYSx5c Old commercials for the Famicom in excellent quality All but one featuring the square-button Famicom. Watch the last one, it features an insane setting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGjcf0SjahA GAME KING Star Soldier Score Competition between Takahashi Meijin & Mouri Meijin You may have seen the 8min excerpt on youtube (the one with 260k+ views), but this is the full 30min version, featuring the amazing intro and all the up and down of both competitors. It's also in splendid quality while the 8min one is super-shitty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9LeZJhz8U0 Japanese documentary about the Famicom featuring various "children of the Famicom" like Hideo Kojima and Tetsuya Mizuguchi. I admit that I didn't understand much, but for any person who understands Japanese it must be an interesting watch.
Thank you Ave May I ask where did you get them in that good of quality? And if I could use a few seconds from the first Famicom commercial for a video I am making, trying to clear up the mess here in South Africa, and how everyone thinks that the original console was the "Golden China" PS will give you full credit ofcourse
It's on YouTube anyway, so feel free to take whatever you need. I did not watermark it, but a reference is highly appreciated I ripped them from a DVD that I bought ("Famicom no Video - 20th Anniversary"). Since it's been out of print for 8 years I believe it was ok to rip it. And because I had never seen Famicom commercials in such good quality before, I thought it was a good thing to upload it on youtube to make it accessible for everyone.
The square buttons were made out of rubber instead of hard plastic, so they wore out really fast apparently. We have a square-button Famicom thread in which this subject is discussed a bit deeper (I am kind of obsessed with it), I believe Nintendo revised the Famicom around Christmas 1984.
It seems like Nintendo took all the faulty Famicons back then and re-purposed (recycled actually) the "faulty CPUs" as CPU for their Single Game arcade boards. No wonder all of their Famicom based single game boards which pop up on auctions have CPUs made in 1984 ...
Ah! I thought these looked familiar I own this dvd as well, totally worth it. I loooved the shots of Super Mario Bros that were on this commercial. I bought it mostly for Game King believe it or not, and showing the Famicom "Top 100" to friends was fun.
