Never noticed they'd failed. I've been having trouble with my Photobucket account recently.

I thought I should jump on board of Parris' thread! I have just taken a few more updated photos of my cabinet collection... it's getting a bit bulbous!

My first cabinet - A Nintendo Brent Leisure Players Choice 10 Cabinet (now sold, pending payment - going to a good home hopefully as I really enjoyed this cabinet!)

Sega Naomi Uni and Electrocoin Neo Geo 'Sports Centre' cabinet (may look to sell this one too, as from what you'll probably soon see, I might have a few too many cabs and I'm much more drawn to the Japanese candy cabinets!)

Now my pride and joy... the candies...

3x Sega New Astro City Cabinets

Sega Astro City and Taito Egret 2

Sega Lindbergh HD LCD Cabinet - started to fully restore this but have realised it's time for it to go so will be looking to sell it. HD gaming isn't really my cup of tea - I much more an old skool gamer at heart.

UFO Cocktail Cabinet - in the process of converting this to jamma and will eventually end up in our office/studio when our business is underway!

Vega 9000DX Supergun - make look to sell this soon as well... a limit to what you need!

Hi mate! This is the guy I bought the New Astro City from and I can recommend him to the site / members as a genuine guy.

Ooooh, see there is a Taito Cocktail with the original CPs present. How I wish :love2:

As for the rust on the legs, I managed to get mine off with a lot of scrubbing and elbow grease. It was a combination of WD40 (which really helped to lift the worst of the rust), Brillo pads, then using T-Cut cleaner. It worked really well.

    Cheers Parris!:)

Yes, the cocktail deserves a little tidying. It just kept getting pushed back. Thanks for the tips - once I've got things more streamlined then I will have a good go at it. The Nintendo cabinet will be gone by Thursday hopefully so that'll free up a little space to work on it.

I still can't get over what a stellar job you did with the Astro by the way!

It was worth the effort and at the price you sold it to me at I had sufficient funds to throw more at it

I've also recently fitted a genuine Astro 2p panel with a beautiful, clean overlay (not repro!) and one of the repro marquee holders which has finished it off nicely.

It's just nice to know it went to someone whose genuinely got a lot out of it.

You weren't wrong about the repro marquee holders by the way - Franco has done an excellent job on those. And they really do add something to the cabs. Money well spent I'd say (although when I initially thought about spending £115 on 4 bits of clear plastic I did wonder whether I needed my head checking!)

So those MVS systems (Sega Astro City, Taito Egret) are designed to play any kind of PCB board no matter how old?

If the PCB is JAMMA standard and the monitor in the cab supports the resolution, yes.

What PCB aren't JAMMA standard? Many? or just a few?

Konami for example uses a different proprietary edge connector on some PCBs and in some of their cabs. But it is possible to make a JAMMA adapter for those.

It looks like, but I am sure it's not a proper Taito cocktail as the glass, clips and CP aren't Taito ones, need a picture of the front to be sure...

Mostly games made before 1985, after this multiplayer gamre or extra button games require control looms (but are still JAMMA), the Neo Geo uses a nearly JAMMA spec (just a few pins that are different). Mahjong games had their own JAMMA spec which is very different and most new games now use the JAMMA 2 spec which isn't really JAMMA.

All the parts you mention (apart from clips and CPs (which are home made)) are stamped with "Taito" funnily enough, unless the Chinese did a line of very good bootleg cocktail cabinets.

I'll take images so you can see the authentic Taito marks.

Funnily enough someone else who owned a Taito cocktail said it looked strange, different color, but he too admitted it looked authentic up close.

** Edit, are you talking about the one below on here and not mine btw?

Ahhh lol. I'll shut up then! If that unit gets spun round, what's the bet it has a speaker grill / slats on the front left side? Which means, not Taito.

Any idea of how good Sega's new Ringedge / Ringwide is?
