But I don't want to spend my video game money on a website each month. I would like to create one with a main page, links to a forum or something, and some links to some other stuff I might want to add. What FREE web hosting site would you guys prefer for this type of thing, and what should I name my site? Or should I not even bother with free hosting and rent a website? I would like a free hosting site with a lot of room on it, too.
    :smt023 Thx

free hosting in general is crap. They may offer lots of space but bandwidth will be low or you'll be plastered with adds.

I use surpass hosting (http://www.surpass.com) and it only costs $6 a month, 3 gigs of space, 50 gigs transfer. Not a bad deal.

Don't use free hosting, it sucks.

Remember, a lot of files also = a lot of bandwidth needed. go for a decent host. There's surpass which Hawanja raves on about, or Yakumo and I use Brinkster. They do a package with unlimited bandwidth, actually - although of course, it costs a bit more.

I want to make a gaming site, so perhaps I can try one of the classic gaming hosting links at gamespy, when I get my page done.

It'll have to be a damn good site in order to get Gamespy or one of the other big boys to host it. GaijinPunch's site is hosted by Gamespy if I recall...damn good site.

Wrong link hawanja! Try www.surpasshosting.com ;)

As I have said before, if you use ASP, don't go with them as they don't support it.

Try your ISP first - most of the time they offer webspace but people don't know it :)
