Now, we all know that there are tons of English gaming websites...so I was wondering if there was a Japanese gaming website comparable to Gamefaqs (size wise)...where idiots (for the most part) gather to argue about which platform is best... Then...that brought the question...do you think that a Japanese counterpart exists to ASSEMbler...devoted to rare stuff...and...uh...they sit around and collect rare US games...? And if they exist, why haven't we met them yet? I don't know, it's just a thought...
Well the Japanese seem to import games sometimes, I saw a few US Saturn games in Japan and even a store dedicated to selling import games... kinda backward :smt030
Since this is an international site, I dont think it could have an oppossite. Unless Aliens build websites and send them to us with secret technology...OMFG what am I saying! All aliens love the saturn...they go to gamefaqs and argue.
Japanese gaming websites are usually very specific. Most video game fans in Japan appear to devote themselves to a specific platform or genre. So sure you can find SOME sites with great info on specific items but probably not too many general sites and I doubt theres another site in any language as in depth as Gamefaqs. Usually Japanese don't import games unless they're collectors. Generally Japanese collectors will go after consoles (CDX) and games not released in Japan but they generally don't go after a English Final Fantasy game...

In all of Akihabara, there's only one import-only store, and Messe Sanno has started to carry some US games. I'm convinced that the X-box oddly enough is what jump-started that market. As for game sites: Channel 2 is about the biggest Japanese message board. It covers everything from travel, to finance, to games. It's massive, text only, and is probably the ugliest BBS you can find. (Most Japnaese BBS's are just that -- bulletin boards with very little searchability or organization). Gamer's Terminal is a great site, where people basically register their site. Here, you'd type in what you're looking for, then would have a list of sites similar to what Kyuusaku pointed out -- small sites devoted to one particular game or console. I've got a few Japanese links in the links section at Japanese Gaming. Always meaning to add more, but haven't been doing much surfing these days.
