Also need some help with it. I've cleaned it, but when I put it in my GBA Micro and in my GBA Player and in my GB Light, I just get the black box where the Nintendo logo should be, or a scrambled Nintendo logo. How can I get this thing to work?
Kind of broad to ask for identification, it's clearly just a multicart, of which dozens exist. I'd be surprised if someone else had the exact same one considering the sheer number of these there are, but you never know If it won't work it's possibly just dead. I did have a pirate original though that never worked, and I was constantly reinserting it into the system and resetting it over and over for a couple days until suddenly it started working, and hasn't stopped working since. So it's hard to say how you can fix it, just be persistent in turning it on and off till it works I guess lol
The GB Light won't play GBC games, will it? Neither will the GBA Micro without a bridge emulator adapter. The Player attachment for the Gamecube is another story, but if memory serves that particular hardware isn't fully compatible with all original Gameboy games anyway. What happens when you put it in an original GBA or a proper Gameboy Color? EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm assuming that the thing uses a bank switcher that identifies itself to the console as a GBC cart. I'm basing that on nothing but the black casing, which is probably a poor assumption to begin with.
I didn't realize it was a GBC cart... But then I've not really paid that much attention to the GB scene. I assumed it was just a regular GB because of the Pokemon games...
Yeah, when I put it in the Light I just get the black bar instead of the Nintendo logo. I'm a dumb ass and it won't even fit into a micro. Somehow I had the idea I tried it in mine... probably just because I carry it with me everywhere. I'll pick up a proper GBC and see what happens, as I don't have one at the moment.
I would get a cotton bud soaked in rubbing alcohol and clean the contacts, it could be that they have oxided to buggery which happens quite a bit on the cheap nasty pirate cartridges. The black box and corruption means that the GB is not reading the cartridge correctly. If it fits in a GB Light then it will work on a Gameboy light, GBC carts will not physically fit and if they are or are inserted into a Super Gameboy then you get an error message saying this cartridge will only work on a GBC...
FYI I don't think the GBA Micro has the ability to play GB games. It just doesn't have the hardware inside.
Nope, the GBA Micro can't play GBC games. With these pirate carts, who knows what they work with anyway. Some of them are so badly made they can actually damage your cart slot.
Micro & DS don't have the GBC Processor in them (sure you didn't ask for DS but it's the same situation as Micro). GBA, SP & GB Player have the chip in them. Far as I know the only games not officially compatible with GB Player are 1) GB Video (but not because of hardware reasons, its a software lock) and 2) GBC/GBA games that use motion chips (technically still compatible and playable but not a wise way to play them). -edit- It's also worth noting the game/cart might not be GB/GBP/GBL compatible if the boot loader is a GBC rom/app even though some of the games in the collection are probably GB games.
I have one (no label, but same title on menu) with a similar problem: in my GBC, the menu works but all of the games show the "scrambled Nintendo Logo" screen. Wondering if there is any fix...
I have an old GB pirate that won't boot properly on a GBA or a GB Player, but works fine on a mono GB and Super GB. A lot of these pirate carts play thick and fast with specs, which isn't surprising really.
From the housing of the cart it's a Gameboy cart, but could also be for gameboy colour. Have you tried using a Gameboy pocket or the brick?
i had a cart a few years ago that was in an original Gameboy casing but was actually a GameBoy colour game, i guess sometimes they just use what cart cases they have available at the time, if it is just dirty tho you could try to clean the pins at the bottom of the cart or send it to someone to test in real GB if you are really interested in getting this cart up and running
Piratecarts are fuzzy though, it might need the correct hardware in order for it to run. So the GB player might not actually be able to boot it.
