Yup, he was an idiot and didn't read the listing carefully enough...

Apparently, he DID read it (yeah right) but thought that being in the consoles category would be sufficient. I think this is the listing:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Xbox-One-...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Yes, it's a scummy thing for the seller to do, but he still should have been more careful. And anyway, eBay sorted it out. There are other sellers doing the same.

Anyway, he got his money back... no harm done - right? Well actually, the story went viral and his local branch of CeX decided to give him a free Xbox One!

    http://www.nottinghampost.com/CeX-s...ox-eBay-scam/story-20296103-detail/story.html

Doesn't that make them look good? Well actually, not really - they're paying more for the consoles than people bought them for, so they must be ripping those consumers off who HAVE to have one now. It's probably one of those "used" consoles, too.

Hold on, though.... this 19 year-old lad has a four year-old son. Ignoring the fact he would have only been 15 when his son was born, is an Xbox One really appropriate for a 4 year-old? Only two games have a PEGI rating of 3+ so far... and both are available on Xbox 360. In fact, Angry Birds Star Wars is on Wii and Wii-U, too - for a lot less. Do we really believe that his 4 year-old asked for an Xbox One?

    Oh yeah... and this happened!

To be brutally honest, he's 19 and has a four year old son. I judge him on that alone.

I love how pretty much every comment about CeX is something fairly idiotic about them paying people nothing for the consoles; they currently pay £430 cash for an Xbox One with Kinect. From a PR perspective, they should have foreseen that every news story about it would have been followed by such comments, negating any positive publicity.

I'd hazard a guess to say that they weren't the only company out there running to grab the phone when this story went viral. It's a marketing opportunity and a half, I bet you they had to throw in some cash somewhere to get some kind of exclusivity with this.

I've heard of a similar thing when the Wii U launched. Someone didn't read the description which clearly stated was the Wii U "BOX ONLY". People shouldn't be rewarded for being morons, seriously, what is the world coming to?

An moron gets rewarded for being a moron? Really?

Also what is it with Great Britain and getting kids when they are under the legal age to drink?

Natural selection, teens who become pregnant reproduce quicker than those who wait. Until there is a reason to wait then people won't.

I wonder how this will affect the market price of pictures of consoles. You know how these people are, they always want what their friends and neighbours have.

The legal age of consent is 16. The legal age at which you can drink is 18. So you can be a parent younger than you can drink. Of course, people like this who are having sex at a young age have no legal repercussions. They have to live with the consequences of their actions, but they won't learn and it's the child who suffers.

Idiots breed idiots, that's the problem. You get all these teen pregnancies, they're not ready to be parents and don't know how. So they're shitty parents. And then their kids are brought up to become twats, and they do the same. It's sad, but ultimately poor parenting is the answer to a lot of things that happen in today's society.

I wonder why some countries are doing better. I dont have the numbers right now but there must be a relation to the scholar system and poverty.

I think that's something you just can't say. Maybe some schools aren't so good, but every school in the UK? Nah. My schools were EXCELLENT and I have relatives who are teachers - headteachers at that. There are definitely good schools still. And, of course, you can check the league tables and such before sending your kids to a school. Again, it's down to bad parenting. Good parents monitor their child's progress, help them with homework etc. A good parent would notice that their child was poorly schooled... but then again, kids should be able to do basic maths and hopefully read before they go to school, as they should be taught by THEIR PARENTS.

Yup OP that is the correct link: eBay Link

I could understand his confusion. I wouldn't say he is a complete idiot, but he is gullible. I wouldn't have bid on that particular listing, but I could see why someone would have.

What does upset me is how he handled the situation. He didn't need to cry about it every which way to grab attention. Ebay is like amazon. All you do is go to the menu, click "item not as described" and you have a recorded case with eBay. For a situation like this he was likely to get a refund.

Sigh... Everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame these days though.

The guy has a 4 year old and he's only 19?!? He then tries to bullshit that he's buying a 400 pounds console for a 4 year old when he obviously doesn't have that sort of cash. And who the fuck would buy a 4 year old a game console meant for adults or a game console at all? The guy is obviously a gormless dickhead.

Oh, and I agree with retro fully. Parents are the ones who need to educate their children. Not only about life but by helping with homework and school in general. Sadly most parents are too lazy or some are so thick it's a miracle they can actually read the TV guide they probably spend all day drooling over, never mind help with their kids homework. It's a long chain of dicks breading more dicks. In an ideal world, people with a low IQ score or lack of social ability should be castrated. That would sure cut down on the amount of scum in the UK. I'm not talking about people who are not too bright when they are born but those lazy shits who spend their school life fucking around, making other peoples life miserable then continuing to do fuck all once they leave school. Words cannot describe how much I hate people like this. I'm all for people really trying but then having no luck. That's part of life but those who don't try........

There was a time where a mistake like this while painful would be something to learn from and remember. Starting at about my generation though the so called "Everyone's a Winner" mentality began and now we coddle and reward people mistakes and not paying attention.

I don't really approve of what the seller did but I also don't think they lied either. I hope they cleared out their paypal account the moment the money arrived and tell Ebay to piss off when it comes to getting it back.

    Caveat emptor...

What a dick! I'd be embarrassed to admit to family I was stupid enough to buy a picture of a console, let alone announce it to the world. As for the kids having kids, it's a terrible cycle in this country at the moment. The kids having them are usually cunts and they breed cunts, the cycle continues.

And Druid, the school your relatives attend must be shite, I can tell you the schools in the Manchester and Greater Manchester area are very decent actually. Sounds like they're attending in a shitty area, ether that or standards have plummeted in the last few years. My niece goes to school in Manchester and my Nephew attends down south (deep south), my nephews school seems shit in comparison with regards to what they learn and how they learn it.

Oh, totally. It's a deliberately misleading listing, no doubt. The comma in the title is odd, but it draws the attention to the word photo after... so I would have worried about this item, especially with no description. If that is the item, why the hell hasn't he left negative feedback?! And why isn't the seller banned, as stated in the second article? Very odd.

That comma was misleading, as was the fact he used the word photo like that instead of "photo of Xbox One". There was no description - not that you can't leave it blank, but anyone would be a fool for just bidding blindly on it.

The seller has done something wrong, though. As a photographer, I don't consider a sheet of A4 paper a "photo" - that is, at best, a proof. Photographs are printed on photographic paper. And I would expect it to be printed high quality, with no banding. It looks as if the seller can't afford to change an ink cartridge, as there's a strange colour and banding on the print. If eBay didn't agree that the article was misleading, I'd still be claiming "item not as described" as it clearly isn't a photograph of sufficient quality to warrant the price, nor does it look like the photograph listed. In fact, if I have the right eBay listing, that's a different photo. The one he's shown holding is clearly a stock photo and, as such, the seller doesn't have the right to print and sell it.

"Well.... don't wanna sound like a dick or nothin' but uhh.... it says on your chart you're fucked up. Uhh... you talk like a fag, and your shit's all retarded."

Yup, you've got a point, there! Worrying to think it could be a real future.

"Don't worry, scro! Ahh, there are plenty of tards out there living really kick ass lives!"
