    This story made me laugh, seems as though the government panel of 'experts' told the government what everyone else knows;

    Alcohol is more dangerous than most illegal drugs.

    So what did the government do? They sacked the scientist.

    Incredible... and in equal parts tragic.

    What are your thoughts?

    If they banned alcohol in England then the whole country would go on strike. I think it's synonymous to a "Good time out". I wish other drugs would get the same treatment, not everyone likes alcohol.

    This is one of the many reasons why this country is on its arse.

    Last time I went out in my local town there must have been 20 police officers stood waiting for the inevitable. Sure enough they got what they wanted and a few fights later the night was over. All because of alcohol.

    If they looked at the damage it causes compared to certain drugs it clear which has the worse effects. I can't remember ever being on a nice trip and wanting to fight someone but I could tell you all the instances of trouble arising whilst drunk.

    The government are pissed because whilst drugs are illegal they can't tax you on them. Thats why the penalties are so harsh.

    I know a guy who was running and got caught with about £200k of Cocaine and got 6 years!!! Then you read about someone killing someone and getting 4 years. Madness.

    I think cocaine should sit next to other stimulants on the shelf, like coffee.

    Its classification as a narcotic is political, not scientific.

    This Government is a joke, Gordon Brown is the least popular PM ever, we are still stuck in a recession that is ending or has ended elsewhere on the globe, and they have all been caught with their fingers in the cookie jar. The worst being that they carried a review into ministers flipping (whereby they claim expenses on multiple properties as their main residence, when it is against the rules to do so) and the person they put in charge of looking into it, was someone who had also "flipped" properties and his conclusion was "We need not look into this..." So, in reality what did they learn during the summer when the public perception of politicians slumped to an all time low? Fuck all it would seem!

    Is it any wonder why lunatics like the BNP are gaining ground on the main political parties as the corruption is so in-grained with this lot it stinks.

    What bothers me most of all is that having bailed out the banks with billions of taxpayers money, Gordon et al have decided to let the banks continue to regulate themselves and doing anything about the fat bonuses as it would "send the cream of the financial industry abroad". Well fuck me Gordon, have you noticed how well those "creamy" banking buggers have been doing of late?

    When people started to complain, the head of one of the banks said "Don't blame us, we've worked very hard this year and it was Gordon's fault for not putting a clause into the negotiated contract". Smarmy SOB.

    As for this drugs stuff, the Government had made up it's mind and wanted the scientists to merely report back with findings to back up their claims. Once the reports looked like they were establishing the contrary, it was curtains for the scientific advisors! I mean, what do the highly educated professionals and experts in their specific field know about anything?

    Dr. Kelly anyone?

    Rant over!
