For whatever reason, how much you think you could get for it?

    honestly, fuckall, not a penny.
    why?
because i don't have the capacity to trade online...yet!
selling it to pawn shops (aka: goodwill or charity shops) and it's an insult, i'd have to give THEM money. :X
    ...
it's something that plagues my daily, and since i've been robbed, attacked (almost killed) in my own home, perspective comes in large doses.
i've had to start from zilch many times, it's homelessness that's a concern.
if it comes to it, i dump em on the streets (as refuse) for free, wouldn't be the first time.
sooner give it away than insult myself on a pittence or take chances with the unknown.
make NO mistake, if i can get a FAIR price irl, it's GONE.
(the web is different altogether, still in the shallow end of the pool there)

I did sell almost all of it... I did pretty well I guess, but I was largely in a rush to sell it all off.

Probably around 1.4m yen? something like that

I physically binned a whole load of stuff that was worth little and gave my loose cart collection to a friend, so perhaps could have gotten more.

Can you elaborate a bit on that?

    eh?
that was the 'elaboration'..nearly getting fuckin crossed out and ever looming homelesssness gave me a better sense of perspective.
    not sure what to add.
death is the great leveler, staring that in the face, all else rescinded. (and it was dark, VERY dark and painful, like been torn to shreds alive, i truly hope my end is swift and painless, i really don't want to go through that again.)

    Wild guess, maybe $5,000?

Since so many of my games are PS2/Xbox/360 games, and those are just about at the nadir of their value, it's not worth a ton.

    In 10 years, probably more.

I'd be aiming at closer to $20k I think.

Considered selling it off many a time, girlfriend said not too because I will regret it and want to buy it all back - she's right there though. So I'll keep sinking money into it...

If I absolutely had to sell though, I wouldn't be in any rush - so no lowballers.

I'm actually considering attempts to buy out other peoples collections once I've saved up some more. House first though...

Excluding this and last gen (Xbox 360, Ps3 and Xbox One, Ps4, WiiU) probably around 2,500 USD.

It's hard to make an accurate assessment without doing a lot of research. But if I had to make a rough estimate, I'd probably say somewhere around $6,000-$7,000 (USD).

I'm very hesitant to sell any part of my collection (except for duplicates and games I don't want) because I've sold large portions of my collection in the past, and I've always regretted it. I know if I do that, I'll eventually end up buying back all of the games I've sold. It may become necessary, in the near future, for me to sell a lot of my stuff. But I really don't want that to happen, and I'm going to do whatever I have to to make sure that it doesn't.

Video games are impossible to sell for anything decent when you need money, the universe just works against all attempts!

Well, the problem, at least in my case, is that it would take forever to sell everything. You could try to sell everything at once, but you would probably get less for it. You could sell things separately and you'd probably get more for it, but that would take a lot of time and effort - which might be better spent just working at a normal job. Maybe a better strategy would be to sell just the most valuable items separately, and then sell the rest in several large chunks.

I tried once to do a valuation of my collection but I stopped and never tried again.
I have almost 1500 games and only 100-150 are loose.
I have a CIB US Virtual Boy set and I'm working on a N64 set (with both CIB and loose games).
I have some other expensive games like Panzer Dragoon Saga, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, Tales of Vesperia Special Edition and others.

If I could get around US$40-50k I would be happy but I don't plan on selling my collection.
In fact, I only plan on buying more games and some consoles.

Personally I'd get around 1500$ I think, nothing too impressive. Mostly from hardware and a few semi-rare items.

I'd like to hear DreamTR's estimate!

Last year he made a thread on NA to try and figure out how much his stuff is worth.
I don't think anyone had figured out a number.

If I got a dollar for every game I owned. I'd have about $35. Haha. Most of this video game stuff I own isn't really liquid (fast) selling items. So if I did have to sell it would take months, pretty much not worth the hassle. If I come across a situation where I need money fast, selling my game collection is last on my list of things to sell bc it would take too long.

I think you could make more money selling the whole lot if you could get some rich dumbass* with a game obsession inversely proportional to his game knowledge and charge him 100 grand for everything
