http://www.discotekmedia.com/ Anyone hear of these guys? I Didn't until a few weeks ago. They're releasing almost exclusively anime from the 70s-90s including tatsunoko stuff and the almighty Hokuto No ken. GTO is coming out this fall and I think Cutey Honey is on the way too. I have my fingers crossed for the original Yatterman.
Something has to be wrong here. It just seems soooo perfect. There has to be a really shitty dub or stupidly obnoxious subtitles. You ordered from here at all? $12.99 for Little Nemo :AiS is a damn good price!
I haven't ordered directly from them but I do have a copy of the Fist of the North Star movie that they released and it is a VERY good release. I just wish they'd release more stuff on Blu Ray. I'll be picking up their Game Center CX, Samurai Pizza Cats and Galaxy Express 999 stuff in the future though and MAYBE Venus wars.
I hope they put Dead or Alive on Blu Ray. I want that cracked out movie in HD But for now, at least I can watch some old school anime before it was marketed for a world wide audience.
They really do have some good stuff on there. I may buy their Project A-Ko since they only copy I have is the original Laser Disc. The US DVD release is fucking awful. It's said to be remastered but looks like crap IMO. I also wouldn't mind higher quality versions of the Project A-KO music videos. This one makes me laugh.
I'm a huge fan of Project A-ko it was the first anime I ever saw which was...yeah 19 years ago this month. I have the 2nd US DVD which I think is ok Central Park Media wasn't know for great transfers as I've come to find out. The A-ko sequels sadly, weren't anywhere near as good as the first movie.
They have Monster Rancher coming out later. =) Only season 1 was released in USA and the DVD was really shit quality, like someone ripped from Youtube to DvD. The rest was never aired in USA and search on torrent I found only 1 active seed that has German dub version with no English sub.
They have the good shit I'm tellin ya. Patlabor just came out on Blu Ray, from another rising company Maiden Japan.
I'll be keeping my eyes on these guys, thanks for the heads up. I'm hoping that in the future they (or someone) will release Shakotan Boogie. I can't find that anywhere.
I'd love to see them get a Kimba the white lion release. (Japanese with english subs) as I don't think there is a subbed release for kimba on dvd or blu ray
Found these new at Walmart in the $1 bin. English dub, no sub, 2 episodes each. Since the bin was full of older shows and anime, I think the shows were abandoned and no longer copy protected so it would be easy for them to get the original series and release them properly.
