Recently, I have been considering taking the IGN Insider subscription at $8 for three months.

    Is it worth it?
I'm mostly in it for the guides. As a general rule, I like to go through a game without a guide, but sometimes it's handy for stats and power levels of characters, items, weapons, etc.. Yes, I know I can look at GameFAQs for free. I've always done that and it has never really failed me.
However, the screenshots in these guides come in handy PLUS I can download them in PDF and even check them out on my brother's PSP.
Most of the other stuff doesn't interest me except for maybe the HD videos, and only then if it's for an exclusive.

Then there's THIS offer which offers a whole year for $15 as opposed to the standard $20. But I'm cheap, so I'm trying it out.

Does anyone have any exeperience with IGN Insider and if so, what are your experiences?

(Good balls, I sound like such a plant. :banghead:)

I'd try it and just download as MANY guides and videos as you can...

    That sounds about right!
I may wait a little longer to dive in so that I can get E3 footage at the end of my subscription.

Considering the 'quality' of their reviews; I'd say no it's not worth a penny.

I've always wondered about IGN insider. Now I know. There's only been a few instances where i've wanted to see videos on IGN insider. but usually i can find them later on YouTube.

Well the game guides are free.
I had it for a while. Honestly there is nothing hardly ever posted on the insider channel worth that price. The HD and higher quality content was nice. But, thats only if your a quality jockey and really if you stick to game reviews then gametrailers has your HD reviews covered

Most of there guides are on TeamXbox I think. I think you just pay for PDFs and stuff.

I think most of the exclusive videos get leaked to youtube anyway.

As for guides, I just use GameFaqs, but only when I'm really really stuck. Come to think of it, I've only needed a guide when I was playing an RPG where some crap might be missed if I don't do something in a specific time period or whatever.

I think there were a few bosses in SOTC and the God of War games where I was totally at a loss in, for instance, the Iron giant in GoW 2 is seemingly invincible during this one part, I forgot what I had to do exactly, but I got him.

I was a member myself for awhile. But to be honest your not missing too much. They use to have some really good exclusive articles as well as console comparisons, but game trailers does that now and it's free.

Another cool thing they had, though I'm not sure if they still do this, is they would take the weeks famitsu and summarize it with the best tidbits such as interviews and news.

Also they did stuff like week in japan where they would do an overview of the japanese game scene that week.

To be honest though with whats available now, it's not really worth it. Even guides you can watch on watch on you tube that go over every aspect of a game.
