I caught this story on Shmups forum, it is a very nice story. I did not see any mention of it on assembler ( sorry if I missed it ) and I thought it would be of interest. Lost game was found in a lot from Japan. The game is now available for download after the original Dev decided to apply some finishing touch to it and release it. Read it here: http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=50648
I only just read about this elsewhere. So someone spent 80,000 Yen on the lot, then released the game for free? Most generous!
Well, it seems it is the original developper who released the game and not those who bought the auction. Although the auction was the trigger that made the whole thing snowball.
Yeah the story is the guy that bought the X68000 stuff on yahoo japan wanted to dump the rom but the developer said not to and promised to finish the game and release it for free.
