I honestly don't seem to have this issue with people despite having a massive collection. *shrug* Maybe it's how you present yourself?
Damn, this sounds like a bollocks word. I dislike the word "gamer". I call it: I am a video game player. But yeah as the thread title says. Deal with it ! But also, people who sees it as childish, has forgotten their inner child. And you should never forget your inner child. Since what makes a human being creative ? Well it is the "child" inside them. That either gives them the idea, or the thought, which becomes the idea of creativity. Hence the reason I found out, that the Android devices has a bloody great mod(ule) player called XMP for Android, it kicks arse. If you want you hear old-school cool "Amiga" modules among other formats on the go. And some people make playing games a living. Well.. good for them. And that is wonderful , but quite frankly I do enjoy playing games Among many other hobbies and interests.
A lot of resentment towards the label "gamer," & I am not sure I have read any valid reasons for this? Kind of confusing.
I hope you don't really believe these generalizations. They're as bad as the people who claim all gamers are children inside.
I do not know, whether or not you are swiping at me with that comment. To me having an inner child, has NOTHING to do with being a child. To me it is just important to play, whether you take photographies. Which I do, among other members who shall remain nameless. Unless they want to say it themselves. But if you forget to play, and go "pro" (to me anyway) without having some fun every now and then. Then you burn out. And that is NO bollocks story. I have taken my fair share of photos here and there, and I realised some time ago. That I felt burned out in some ways, because I felt it was a "duty/job" to take pictures. Which it is NOT for me. But I forgot to have fun taking pictures, thankfully I realised it before, I have had it for good with taking pictures. So I am taking it more easy now, cause I know burning out is not good, I had not played games for a while, because I was too busy taking pictures. But I am beginning again to have fun playing games too. And why did I mentioned the so-called "inner child" ? Because of this simple reason, if you work your arse off, with programming or some other tedious and fucking monotonous ass-backwards job . That only makes you think of earning your money, then you some times forget your own creativity, and joy of doing something that makes you smile and laugh. Whether it is playing music, going to demonstrations (and shouting different "battle cries"). Such as "From Denmark to Greece no Nazis in the streets !" or skating on either a skateboard or roller-skates and so forth. Hence the reason I mentioned the XMP for android, that was one of my creative thoughts. While I was having fun. And indulging my "inner child". If you ask any of quite a few of the members. They have a job every day, but some of their interests and makes them happy are what me listen/read their posts. Cause just because they have a job of some kind that is perhaps related to games, programming and so forth. Then (I think) they love to explain , and they know what they are talking about. On this forum.
OP just be glad you have a hobby that you really enjoy. Who cares what anyone thinks. I actually find people without hobbies tend to be pretty miserable. (I've also found they are more likely to drink a lot because they have a hard time meeting people otherwise due to the of lack of a common hobby with others) I don't care what anyones hobby is, but everyone should have a hobby!
With gaming being my hobby, it's a real release from my actual job since it's basically on the opposite side of the spectrum. Escape is wonderful as long as it's not harming anyone in the process. Game on brother... game on.
Nothing against you at all. What I was speaking about was the reprehensible behaviors of children. Things like screaming curse words and being a sore loser are things people don't expect in adults. This is seen in online games by the average person, and they associate it with all of us (if not they use some other shitty reasoning why we are losers). Initially I was going to use the term "manchild" which means someone who is an adult physically, but seen as having a childish brain because they do not act maturely.
You already get fines in Denmark, if you give the finger to the cops, and if you shout "fuck the police" and so forth you can get fines too. Hell you get an indictment of "assault on a policeman" , if you hit them with them a "loogie" in the face. And you can even end up, being indicted with "noisy and violent behaviour". If you are to a street party(and you happen to be arrested on bollocks grounds). And so many other things in Denmark. And I could go on . But I will leave it at that for now.
