I just got in this afternoon (Tokyo time) and so I'm suffering a little bit of jetlag :/. But I was wondering what you gentlemen think I should be sure to see here. I'm with my family so I'm sort of at their whim, and I don't know how long exactly I will be in Tokyo, but we'll be here long enough to see some cool stuff. Of course I'll be visiting Akihibara, and hopefully catching a baseball game, but other than that, I don't have too much planned. What do you guys think?
When you go to Akihabara make sure to check out the back street shops behind Club Sega (you can't miss it if you come from Akihabara Station). Trader 2 is down there from what I remember. THere's also a cool PCB arcade shop that had all the windows covered with posters so you can't see in. Yakumo
Why not check out some of the science & technology centres; there are a few in Tokyo, but I don't know the exact locations besides Miraikan in Odaiba, and of course Any Street in Akihabara. :-D
Argh...It's 3 A.M. and I am wide awake. This will not bode well for getting over jetlag. I will be sure to check out some of these places. My parents had an interest in seeing Sumo, but as I understand, the major season is over. Is there any way we can see some now?
When I was there I had about 6 hours sleep in the first 3 days... I thought Lost in Translation was being silly, but nope, sleep is certainly not the order of the day! On a good note though, I saw lots of the nightlife!
When I went to Japan (+8 hours difference from Portugal) I didnt feel a thing! I was so excited I didnt even notice the different timezone, but as soon as i got to a bed I literally collapsed and slept like a rock ( spending 12+ hours a day browsing gameshops and gamecenters and sightseeing can be a bit exausting)
Hey, AlbinoLove. Can you check out Gfront, Mak Japan, and Try in Akihabara. I'm especially interested in superguns or control boxes as they call them in Japan. I believe Mak Japan has them in a glass case. Ask them what they have and what the prices are. I'd appreciate it if you can let me know.
I took a quick trip to Akihabara yesterday and looked around, hit up a few game stores, and generally explored, but I'll probably be returning again. If you can point me towards a good map that shows me the location of these place from the train, I'd be happy to check some stores out for you.
The first thing I bought was a Filco keyboard with brown cherry switches. It is phenomenal to type on. I love this freaking thing.
They both have websites and both have prices of things on, use google and stop being lazy. Even if you japanese is non existant it doesn't take that long to find them. On topic : If you want a nice view of Tokyo then go to Shinjuku and visit the Goverment offices as they have a nice viewing floor which is free and means you can use it as an excuse to go around the arcades in Shinjuku.
Cool, I just found out where the superguns are on their website. http://www.mak-jp.com/ctrbox.html I had to search through the links on the site and go by the pics shown. Am I right in my currency conversion that the Sigma is around $400?
Think you could ship a Wangan Midnight arcade cabinet to me here in the 'States? I'd really appreciate it.
I've sold about 10 AV7000/9000TB or Raijin's in the last year. You're looking at about $500 to $510 shipped to the US. Of course if you buy them at the shop and lug them home, it's much less (less than $400).
