I'm moving to Japan! Any advice on the process?

The guy I'm replacing has given me a link to a company who specilizes in helping forigners set up their internet connection in Japan. Figured this might be useful information for anyone else moving to Japan!

 

We did, and discussed it. Shou went through the arduous process of getting real internet speeds from his provider, and apparently has a crackin' VPN. I can't get through the first line of defenses at provider (usually a clueless OL) before pulling my teeth out so never bothered.

 

Let me tell you, it took many calls to get to someone who understood what throttling meant. Before that, it was all we don't do this until I provided evidence of it. But, now I get 50 up and down paying only $15 a month.

 

Bring western strength pain killers/headache tablets - the Japanese ones are largely useless

Do you know of any people who are super-skilled with a soldering iron? I'm looking for people to do things like modchip installation and re-balling a PS3.
