On a Mac I know my way around but on the PC, well it's just been so long! Does anyone have any advice on the best software to clone or image the hard drive from a Dreamcast development box Windows wise? Or would I be best off using one of the dev kits to do this? I'm hoping my SCSI card will turn up in the next few days, but figured I should get some input from the pros in this field!
I highly suggest AOMEI Backerupper. I used it to clone my 128GB SSD and put it on my 256GB SSD and it works fine to this day. Plus its free, so there is no real risk! But if you want to pay, Acronis True Image can be found cheap on eBay due to people getting codes for them for free from Crucial SSDs. Crucial... oohhooo that's a bad taste in my mouth - the 5200 hour bug in the M4s... pain in the ass after selling people a bunch of SSDs at work... From then on it was all Samsung Does it work inside Windows or did you need to boot to some sort of recovery disk? Ideally it would be nice if the devkit can do it or at least mount the internal hard drive so I can avoid buying a SCSI compatible case. I'm trying to think when I last saw one of those and have a feeling it was given away... :\
Crap, I do have an M4. Maybe I should check this out... Lol. Don't think you can run it outside of Windows, sadly.
That might be a good thing, if the devkit can mount the hard drive (is that what it does?) then this thingo could back it up, would need to be block level of course. Don't you just love deleted items that aren't zeroed? Hahaha, they've long since fixed it... but when your customer base is all Macs... and the firmware needs Windows... you sort of want to cry!
Not sure. If you think you can do it, by all means, do it! Lol. As far as the 5200 hour bug, I think mine isn't affected. I hope...
Genius! Wonderful! Thank you all! Of course, why didn't I even think about the SCSI card I ordered having an IDC header internally. Honestly, where would I be without you guys?
