    Hi there,

Please do not take it as an offense; however, I wonder whether there is a risk of radiation or some other dangerous emission to which we are exposing ourselves when we get consoles, games whatsoever from Japan after the terrible Fukushima disaster...

Actually, I have not thought about it until the very moment, because I had bought many imported games from Japan recently and after the Fukushima disaster...However, a friend of mine has asked "How are you doing this? Isn't it dangerous?"

I might need some relief; however, if there were a risk already, I would be exposed to it....

Radiation mostly affects water and that way gets into food (meat, milk, crops, vegetables) - which is the most dangerous aspect of it. It's quite hard for radiation to affect "dead" objects in a way that they would assume radiation themselves and radiate even in a different environment. Even if a game is exposed to radiation, it will not conserve most radiation (I don't wanna say "all" because I have not studied this) and will be fine in an uncontaminated environment.

Okay guys...That was a relief, for sure...It seems that I am heavily being mocked around here :friendly_wink: However, is there a more scientific elaboration about that?

Edit: ave, thank you for more elaborate explanation

It's more risky to keep a laptop near your nuts.

Not sure if OP is serious or trolling...

I mean, to begin with, "Fukushima" is not the entirety of Japan, you could easily buy something from a place that the radiation never even reached. And then there's the question if the radiation would even "stick" to a game console and if it would even be at a high enough level to be dangerous.

Really OP, what you should be worried about is buying things from homes that might be haunted! Your purchase might come with a ghost!

If it was at high risk, customs in various countries would prohibit any packages from that area of Japan.

No, I am not trolling....You think you are exhausting all the possibilities, don't you? Then I would say how would you know if you bought a console from someone who was living in an area that the the radiation never reached and this same person might have bought it before you from a person living in a place where radiation had already reached? No, I am not trying to be obsessive-compulsive; however, there are always many many possibilities....

I am just asking whether anyone has thought about it?

I concur with you in that the level of the radiation is also a parameter that we cannot be totally sure about

Anyways, thank you for your suggestion about not buying consoles from haunted houses...That was really a profound, well-established, smartly-thought idea :friendly_wink:...Thanks....

I bought load of games, food, drink and breath the air and all that happened to me was I grew an extra eye. Pretty handy to tell the truth :p

Of course there's no chance of catching Radiation from games even if the games came direct from Fukushima.
