ok so now i have tried to buy a game on the japanese psn store with my credit card but to no avail.
as far as I can see everything has been entered correctly, I even used an existing tokyo postal code and pressed the blue button to resolve the rest of the address automatically but also no go, getting some japanese error saying I have to press O to go back and fix something :p
anybody got this working? if so share the japanese address used please :)

I think the problem is that they don't accept credit cards outside of japan, guess I will have to buy those overpriced pre-paid cards on ebay to buy something.
Also you have to fill the address in kenji, so it's hard to figure out, allthough it has a resolver when you enter a valid postal-code but I am not sure if this would be a complete address or not :p maybe I am just missing a housenumber somewhere or something.
Anyone ever succesfully bought something with a non japanse credit card?

You can'y use foreign cards for the japanese Store, you need a point card, or if you have a japanese system, an Edy card with the adapter:

    Old thread :p

I did buy these cards before (from ebay) but I just don't like the idea somebody is making money on this while sony could of just allowed us to buy overseas.

The US/EU PSN doesn't have this extra check, so not sure why Japan should.

The same reason, that in theory you should be able to withdraw money from any atm that has a visa or mastercard logo on it in Japan but you can't, so you have the Japanese post office (which depending on where you live might be only be office hours or Saturday morning, cashless on a Sunday or in the evening, well tough...), and the few Citibank and HSBC branches scattered around Japan. Seems that most Japanese banks only accept Visa or Mastercards issued in Japan.

7-11 ATMs also accept foreign ATM cards with Visa/MC logos on them.

meh, I got rid of dttdtt. his post reads of being personal advertisement.

Question about buying things in japan. Can you use foreign credit cards to buy stuff in stores or is it pretty much cash only (ignoring jpn issued credit cards). I know japan isn't big on credit but just wondering for when I ever get to go to japan if I need to make sure to raid my bank first (kind of worry about being loaded with cash).

    -edit-
I'm pretty sure we all know this by now but PSN credit card system is region locked. Really sucks, I liked the days of raiding the HK store since it would take a US/Can credit card. =(

Kind of funny, Nintendo's system is locked. I can use my card to buy stuff off jpn dsiware.

I had that feeling too so I removed link from the quote in my reply.

Anyway: PSN is region locked now? sad to hear, but it's their loss actually.

Your foreign credit card will be accepted anywhere, yes.

Yes it does, at least in the case of the EU. I had to buy an EU PSN card in order to get Outrun HD.

In the early PS3 days it was possible to merge your european creditcard to a foreign PSN-account, but shortly after this was public knowledge they made this impossible for new accounts. (Accounts that already merged their CC cards, will still work!)

I think they block that now. Sony blocks a lot of the backdoors people found. =(

Also in the early days HK PSN use to accept foreign cards but they killed it after Tekken 5 HD came out.
