    Hey guys!

I've noticed that, while many systems, including the NES, Genesis and Master System, have plenty of easy-to-find replacement connector slots, it's becoming more and more difficult to find replacements for SNES, N64 and the like, and of course I can't say I've EVER found a replacement for the notoriously finicky Sega Saturn cartridge slot.

So I got it into my head that maybe I could get new pins and use them to just slip into connectors that need them. However, since pins come in all shapes and sizes (I assume), I was hoping to find some info on pin sizes, how to open the assemblies without destroying them outright, what I can harvest individual pins from, that sort of thing. ANY help at all would be appreciated.

They're not designed to be dismantled. You won't find the pins, and you shouldn't attempt to dismantle a socket!

You could buy a new, standard, card edge connector with at least as many contacts and then make an adapter for your existing RAM carts to fit. That'd be extremely roundabout, but it could work.

Honestly though, if you were going to go through the trouble, I'd just permanently wire an expansion in. It'd be much cleaner, as you likely wouldn't need most of the pins/conductors to run one cart.

I fixed a broken pin in a ColecoVision with part of a pin from a NES connector. I just wedged it there and it holds snuggly. Its Ghetto but works lol.
