I watch football, not all the time, but when with friends, because it's unpredictable most of the time and because of how physical it gets. I watch soccer for the same reason and because of how frantic the mexican announcer gets, which makes me laugh. I watch hockey because of the fights that break out. Not into basketball, nor baseball, and tennis and golf are not spectator sports..
Tennis is what I find annoying. It seems like every time I watch they end up screwing up the serves. How can you call yourself a professional tennis player when you can't even serve the damn ball half the time.
WATCHING, yes. However, playing the game with a bunch of screwball friends is a whole other story, especially if you're able to use a golf cart. There's nothing funnier than the expressions on the faces of the 'proper' golfers as they watch a bunch of idiot twenty-somethings scream at each other for 9 holes. :icon_bigg
Miles off there. I have just found 2004 viewing figures - superbowl 04 had 93million viewers. It was beaten by - The olympic opening and closing ceremonies, and the euro 2004 (european football championship) final Also, the 2002 football world cup final was watched by 1 billion viewers. The 98 world cup had 1.3 billion. The only years the superbowl will get the biggest viewers is when there is no european football championship OR world cup OR Olympics - basically every "odd" year. Obviously all numbers are estimates, but american football is far from the mostt popular. Finally, in defence of football, If you like hockey of any form (ice, street, grass etc.) then football is the same, but on a bigger scale, and accuracy than brute force needed - you can score in hockey by hitting the ball/puck bloody hard into a goal, but in football you need accuracy to position the ball where it won't be intercepted - the "hit it mighty hard" philosophy doesn't work. Note: all instances of football in this post refer to "soccer", and most stats have come from: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=574061
Well, you just described just about every sport there is, as for the entire western hemi. thing 5. 2004 Super Bowl (95 million viewers) Not to bad for 1 country watching it, as opposed to the entire world for soccer
Except the football world cup finals are watched by over 10x as many people. Also don't forget that theres no crap like half time shows in football, so you are only turning on to watch the game, nothing else. Also I expect that the season games in NFL get far fewer viewers than the matches before the world cup final. Basically this is a forum with people from around the world participating in. Bear in mind in the future that not everyone will have the foggiest clue what you are talking about, and try to give some kind of detail that someone with absolutely no knowledge of the sport can understand
Just saying to be a bit more descriptive when you post about something. if i have don't understand a post, how do i know i won't be interested in it?
I don't have cable, so I don't watch TV at my apartment. If I do watch sports I stick to hockey, F1 and CART. Many of my friends watch sports, so if I am hanging out at their place I don't make a fuss about not wanting to watch sports. Too each there own. ^_^_^
