not sure what your asking? ST-V is a jamma Arcade Board, it uses Carts, most are quite cheap, but then the Shooters like Radiant Silver gun are crazy money £150+ for a bare cart.

Isnt a bad system though the two main chips are prone to lifting, and then when you put in a cart u get a black screen. Also they are region locked via a bios, a guy called Joerg made a Multibios if you google for it.

So you're the one who outbid me , eh?

It's a ST-V devbox from sophia. I've never seen another and never found
    documents.

No, I got this from a guy who got it from Acclaim when they shut down the coinop division. I also got 2 proto carts that are missing a ROM. I'd like to get them working to verify what game they are. For some reason, I got 2 of the top boards of the Sophia unit. I that board is the same as the console version. The seller gave me a lead that got me into posession of my MTG Armageddon game and a box of spare main boards. (pink eye?)

Was there a recent ebay auction for one of these units? Any recollection of the selling price?

    thanks

Auction was for something like $500 but was complete, looks like you're missing pieces for sure. As to the carts, dump the eproms and try them in an emu.

The problem is that both boards/carts have SMT roms, so not easy for me to dump. I'll post some pics of those proto carts once I dig them out. If I recall correctly, the EPROMs that are missing I assume are what are normally labeled ODD and EVEN on similar carts. I am not sure of their function and if I can replace them. I assume that they are protos for Acclaim's Batman. Isn't that the only STV title from Acclaim? I don't remember if I tried burning those ROMs and trying to boot the cart.

One interesting thing that I remember about the carts is that it looks like one is a very early revision and is comprised of a Sega dev cart married with a custom Acclaim board with a bunch of jumper wires, etc. The next cart looks like it is more looking like a production unit, but clearly too large.

Well if it's from acclaim it's only going to be one game and probably not very good.

That could be. That's part of why I am seeking info. The lower main board has 2 spots marked SHII. I have 2 modules that are identical layouts, but are populated differently. One is Sega 837-10494 and is marked SHII ICE CONN BD. It has no CPU, just an empty DIP socket with an odd pinout. I haven't seen a socketed SHII CPU, so maybe that's what fits. The other one is Sega 837-10495 SHII QFP CONN BD. If you plug the ICE module, then you can only physically plug one of the two CPU modules. I would guess that you either use the ICE module + the ICE CONN BD, or just the SHII QFP CONN BD alone. Is that how it works with saturn sophia?

He's missing the ice module, it sits on top. You can put in a SH2 but where to get one in zif format?

I was thinking that the Hitachi stack that I have was called the ICE module. No? Is it a device that plugs into that empty PGA (or whatever format)? If so, what's that stack called?

    thanks

I've only seen the ice module for sale, and not the ice box that attaches to it.

    Sophia systems makes it.

Looks like my unit is pretty complete except missing the cable that attaches the ICE PGA adapter to the ICE pod. I am assuming that the ICE pod is the Hitachi SH7604 triple-stack assembly. It's got Hitachi (c) all over it, so I don't think that it's made by Sophia. I found my 2 proto carts. Pics here:

The later rev is marked game 10097. Batman Returns is game 10096, so maybe this is an unreleased game. I'll have to pull out my STV hardware and see if I can get either to run. My recollection was that they both have blank 8mb EPROMs.

Wow a flash board converted to dev. Impressive.

I just noticed that the sh-2 board isn't the same as the saturn dev. Yours is much smaller.

Afaik Sophia made all the items for Sega including the ice module. I could be wrong.

    Yeah, you're wrong ;-)

The ICE box for Saturn is the Hitachi E7000 - standard SH2 ICE. However, it needs a PGA adapter which comes with the Sophia Target Box. That, and the pod has a different connector from other non-Sega pods I have.

Photos aren't loading for me - I'll look another time. You'll need two SH2s or one and the ICE in place, though.

Take a look at my Sophia gear:

    http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20197

You'll see the two pods on top. Both made by Hitachi and identical. The left one came with a Sophia setup and has a PGA socket, the right one came with a Hitachi ICE used elsewhere and has rows of connectors.
