As you may have already noticed I'm new here, but anyway on with the story. A while ago I did some research on TEST/Debug PS2 consoles, mainly on this site and I decided I wanted one. Living in Australia it was rather hard to get a hold of one but after about 6 months of searching I finally found one, as you probably have noticed it is a DTL-H30002 S. I am making this thread mainly because there seems to be some confusion over the significance of the "S" series of the 30002's. Some people are saying that the S stands for simple therefore the unit has limited functions. This to my knowledge is incorrect as I have not found anything that it cannot do in comparison to a regular debug console(unless you are including having to patch DVD-R discs to play). Some interesting things about it: It says "PS2" on the front It can play DVD-Rs that cannot be patched (non-offical Sony games ie. HD Loader) with the use of the Swap Magic 3.6 disc without the slide tool. The controllers that came with it appear to have more durable cables than the standard ps2 ones (the console came in box with 2 controllers, 1 memory card, cables & and instruction manual). If there are any other things you want to know about it then just ask.
?!? that's strange...but i think i've heard of one specific model before...dunno what it was exactly, i guess it was the model you're talking about, nice find though!
My DTL-H10000S only plays Jap retail, and master burned disks, my DTL-H10000 only plays Jap retail and master burned. My other two will play anything(H30101 and H30001). The only difference i see between the "S" and regular is that the top doesn't say "TEST". I've never tried HDloader on either of those because they both have the PCMCIA slots.
I have noticed no difference with the S model other than the "PS2' logo on the front.... I know the early DTL-H10000 and DTL-H10000S only play JAP retail games though.
