Some people have been wondering, anyway here's the rply I got back from DCH: "Hey, Yeah, well it seems the google links effectively killed the bandwidth for the month and my hosting company has been horrible to deal with. We did 15 gigs of bandwidth in 20+ days, that's out of control. On the 1st the site will be available and we're going to back it up and change hosts and try to get the google hotlinking under control. Maybe you should post in assembler, or something. =)" Yeah, it sucks. =( But we'll be back soon, hopefully. :smt023
Ok, and also: "Yeah, I feel bad (re: I donated $10) about the fact that our site went down. But, man, I never thought DCH would get remotely close to 15 GB data transfers - I thought that was complete overkill and didn't think it would ever be an issue. The previous year, we had 5 GB transfers and we were approaching that at the end of the month (if you'll recall, the site started having bandwidth issues near the end of the month), so I tripled the bandwidth thinking that would be safe. I was floored when I got that bandwidth message on Tuesday and my host(s) are being complete idiots. No responses to multiple e-mails to multiple addresses where I'm basically asking to GIVE THEM MORE MONEY TO GET THE SITE BACK UP and they aren't responding. I've been going through their https:// support system and I keep getting one-line responses that don't answer any questions about HOW TO GIVE THEM MONEY. It's unbelievable how these places operate. So, to sum up, we will be back on the 1st. The site will be backed up off the server side and we'll be moving to a better service provider. I'm really REALLY pissed off at the host and am majorly annoyed that google could steal that kind of bandwidth. Fuck it, I registered. I should've registered here a long time ago anyway. Yeah, google can suck my left one and my service provider the right one. We'll be moving to a new home soon.
Shame that, work have banned me from looking at DCH site anyhow. Cant wait for new internet connection at home.
