Hello, I am attempting YAROZE dev on a debugging station or a chipped Playstation (to conserve the debugger *g*) But most sites are gone down and I don't have a member access. Does someone know where to find infos on development? Thanks
Out of curiosity, why yaroze dev? The compiler and the libraries are cripled compared to the full dev software. In my humble oppinion you'd be better off getting the full dev SDK and using that...
You mean PSY-Q? Does the full dev kit work without the ISA cards? Does it compile useable PSX-EXEs? I only have a debugging station (DTL-H1002) and a chipped PS1 + Caetla ripoff card (Game enhancer) + Commslink cart and associated programs for transfer. I thought of testing with Commslink and by CD-R. If I manage to get hold of the full dev kit CDs, can I start with that (regarding infos). I don't want to program some mega-special game in 3D, just 2D graphics and CDDA music. I have knowledge in ANSI-C and some MCU ASM dialects, so I am not a newbie, but never touched the PS1
PsyQ does produce working PSX-EXE (Look for CPE2x), and works without the ISA card. (Except for the debugger). The Caetla stuff also supports redirecting CD access to the PC. It is also able to redirect stdout to the PC for printf style debugging messages. You can download the source to a playstation program that I created using PsyQ: http://releases.emuvibes.com/
Thanks, I will look into it and try out my programs using ePSXe. Since I don't have Yaroze cable and no ISA slot for Commslink, I will be just testing in the emulator and then burning a CD-R
Some years ago I used a XplorerFX with Caetla and worked very good. The advantage is you don´t need an isa slot, but a standart parallel port What I´m not sure about is if still works on Windows XP...probably you would need some kind of software in order to give full parallel port control to the tools.
I do even have an XPloder Professional cart at home. It came together with a display unit (X-Assist). Does the Xploder need to be reflashed with Caetla firmware for this (is Caetla firmware compatible with Xploder carts?) For Windows 2000/XP you can use drivers like UserPort or Porttalk My cart looks like this: Got it for 4 € in a second hand store.
Yes it is. I'm running caetla on a xplorer fx, I think it's compatible with the other revisions too. You probably need to reflash it under msdos, thats what I ended up doing anyway ( don't forget to save the firmware first in case you want to go back to it ). Then get hold of catflap, it runs great on windows xp and it supports sending cpe's ( native psyq format ) as well as exe's. The latest version I have is v2.36, it seems quite hard to get hold of. Let me know if you need it. If thats all the development you want to do then having an official debug station is a bit overkill. Caetla doesn't care whether you can play cdr's & the colours don't match smf
Where are you guys getting the xplorer fx WITH Caelta?? (sorry if it's off topic, but I've been looking for one)
You install caetla yourself. You just need to find a cartridge. Finding a good quality 25 pin D cable for a reasonable price is harder. smf
