Can't see the other chip, guess that one is a DSi ARM9 SoC.

Overall it doesn't looks like something worth $300...

I don't think it's an Arm9. Those are way to old and arm processors are by default BC with previous generations. So am arm11 can run Arm7 or Arm9 code.

DS devs weren't allowed to write custom code to the Arm7 so i'm sure nin can write wrappers for their arm7 stuff and just run DS arm9 code on the main core and be fine for BC.

It cant be the GPU, right? all ARMs these days have a CPU+GPU arrangement

Although if that was the case it would explain the pisspoor battery life

It's not the GPU, that's PICO. It could be a SOC with the arm & gpu in t he same core. Hard to say due to the quality of the picture.

Someone on neogaf said they asked the guy who posted the image for cleaner shots and he said he'd bug the person who has the unit. So maybe we'll get some cleaner shots to read off the CPU/MEM text/etchings.

    The board design is hideous.

Looks like the inside of a DS Lite, that was covered in glue, thrown into a barrel of components, shook around for a while, and pulled-out.

Are those SERIOUSLY the oil-can metal clicky buttons?
If so, can I borrow someone's knife? I need to cut my thumbs off really quick.

Is this the same 3DS that showed up last week in that video or another one taken off the line?
