Does anybody have a website that shows the inside of the consoles such as the Power Joy, Super Joy III, etc.?
I have 2 of the Super Joy III thingies. Here are some pictures of the insides of the latest model I have. This one had the smallest PCB and the game chip is built right on the PCB. I have already removed the Famicom cart slot in preparation for a project that seems to be dying now. This is the main board that is the heart of the system. From left to right these are the chips on the board. Built in ROMs, NOAC (NES On A Chip), system RAM. You can also see the date of assembly here March 25 2004. There's also a model number of some sort: XA339. Back side here. Nothing special to note. This is the controller board. It has a glop top for the controller as well as the stuff on it for main power and the A/V out. The whole system runs on +5V DC current. You will see a little red wire here. That goes to pin location 60 on the PCB. Send +5V to it and the internal games are disabled allowing for a cart to be booted. It has a switch to do that on other side of PCB. The switch is visible here. Marked SW2. I stole the A/V ports for an adapter I made for my Grandma to hook her Wii to a RF only TV set... I also have a 12,000 in one Super Joy III in a red casing. It is an older model with a slightly larger PCB. The games come in a small cart with a glop top chip that goes into the Famicom port. I'm not gonna take it apart right now to get some photos. Hope this helps.
For all the negativity the Powerjoy series gets, its not that bad of construction inside. Still a bootleg Famicom, but an inexpensive way to obtain hard to find imports or Tengen Tetris. I took a Superjoy apart and posted an article. I think I made a video about it long ago, but I'm sure it won't actually be of any use. I was always planning on making a super-mini Fami out of one of these... but never finished it.
