How practical would it be to install a small fan taken from a video card (or perhaps other case fan?) in a Sega Saturn to assist with cooling?

If you're worried you could leave the expansion card cover off and put a small fan infront of it as an exhaust fan. But if you're in a room of 80F/27C or less degrees you shouldn't need such a thing. Just don't bury it inside a cabinet where it gets no normal room air flow. You could also get one of those laptop cooling pad things if you wanted. No need to modify your Saturn console.

There is a ton of metal in the Saturn… It really shouldn't need any kind of cooling. If you want to add one for fun though, there is plenty of room!

There's no need to install cooling, if anything the extra load on the PSU and noise pushed into the electrical system wouldn't be helpful. Never had a Saturn get warm past the point of just being felt.

Don't understand people installing the PicoPSU thing in DCs and Saturns. Nobody I've seen do it can tell me they've had issues related to load on the console or heat. Just that it increases the available current and reduces heat. And why would you want to use a wall wart? We wanted to get away from those things for decades and now everyone thinks they're acceptable?

You are correct. However, soon after I originally made this post, I realized that the Yamaha receiver right below the glass shelf the Saturn was resting on was (naturally) outputting a ton of heat, causing the Saturn to overheat. Needless to say, I laughed at myself and moved things around a bit. Problem solved! lolol

    2 reason I use them.
1, replacement for a failed power supply
2, I can run both the Dreamcast and Saturn from 1 outlet.
