installing fmcb the easiest way

Hi. I want Free MCBoot on my PS2 except I don't have any software to put fmcb on. (codebreaker and etc. if you don't get what I mean.) How can I install FMCB without cheat devices?

 

Buy a FMCB memory card from somebody. And then follow guides on installing the program on other memory cards. http://bootleg.sksapps.com/tutorials/fmcb/noobie.php Doesn't take that long if you get the hang of it.

 

The install is on a USB flash drive, but you need a FMCB memory card though to access it.

To OP: Either you need an action replay, a game that can execute the exploit (007: Agent Under Fire iirc), or use swapmagic. I too have been trying ways to get it without 007 or Swapmagic. I might get Swapmagic discs soon.

 

I did mine with a 'proper' HDLoader disc, which might be hard to find nowadays.

It is always handy to have a Swap Magic disc around.

That's how freemcboot works, but unfortunately you need a memory card that has uLaunchELF on it already. So a bit chicken and the egg situation.

You *might* be able to do it via the HDD-OSD method, but I've never tried it that way.

Most people use the Agent Under Fire swap trick, but you have to swap the disc off the spindle while it is running which is dangerous for your system. Some people also have problems with the timing of the swap and the quality of the Agent Under Fire backup copy ('trigger disc'). Did it myself, but I really didn't like doing it. Now that I have FMCB it is a simple matter of making more. I do a multi-version region 3 install service for people in the UK.

Where do you live? With the latest FMCB I think it's possible to do cross-region multi-version install so I could use my PAL region 3 to make an FMCB memory card for NTSC consoles. Have I got that right?

 

If you have a PS3 memory card adaptor, there are online guides on how to make a FMCB card. It is really easy.

 

Making sure that OP sees this, it's pretty much the best method to install it.

I think that PS3 memory card adaptor is the easiest way to do it. Just install the drivers, execute the 2 bat files and you're good. Unless if youre on mac.
