I know a few methods of installing it on an American PS2, but I am wondering how one does it on a Japanese system. Are the exploit games the same, like with a certain 007 game or is it very different? What's an easier method? I've read this thread and it says install the normal way, and then copy the contents of the BADATA-SYSTEM folder into a newly created folder BIDATA-SYSTEM. The person in the thread confirmed it on his Pink 50001 system. But what's the success on other models, like a slim? Have people successfully chain installed on a Japanese system? And is it helpful to put in the "inject" files?

USB Memory Card adapter I believe is a method. Just drag files over on the PC.

The exploits are for running homebrew software, like the FMCB installer.
    The exploits are the same.

If you already have a PS2 that can run homebrew software (i.e. you have FMCB installed on it), you can make a cross-regional installation for your Japanese console.

Not the DATA folder, but EXEC (i.e. BIEXEC-SYSTEM). You don't need to do that, if you make a cross-regional installation.

Only FMCB v1.9 and later are truly region-free and compatible with every known PS2 model.
v1.8c and later no longer involved injecting the FMCB payload into a DVD player KELF, hence there is no longer the injection system (and hence no wasted space).

FMCB needs to be installed. Even with the PS3MCA package, there is a script that binds and copies over the files.

I don't know if it works for you, but with my SCPH-30004 R (with network adapter and internal HDD) I was able to load uLaunchELF by writing some data to the first sector of the HDD (I don't remember which website led me to this procedure, but it worked). It's easy peasy from there: get a FMCB noobs package on a USB stick, throw in a memory card and run the installer with uLE. It's as simple as that.
You could also send your memory card over to someone with a modded PS2 so that they can make you one.

Alright. The last few FMCB cards I installed were with the 1.9 version. I'll plug in a card and see what happens when the Japanese system arrives.

I looked over the log for Free McBoot 1.95, it says the earliest Japanese consoles are fully supported. Nothing says the Multi-Console Install actually means works for different regions or later models. I got in a Slim 77001 unit.

I know that the information is rather badly organised or even missing. I wasn't the original author of FMCB, so I made the release of v1.90 in 2013 with the assumption that people already knew what this project was about.
FMCB belongs to Jimmikaelkael, as the credits say.

v1.8c and later are region free, if you make a multi-installation or a (normal) cross-region installation. All PlayStation 2 models are supported, except for the ones (ROM v2.30 and newer) that can't support FMCB.

The part about the SCPH-10000 and SCPH-15000 was a new feature, as FMCB used to have only partial support for them.
