when you think of bad games, sometimes your worst video game ideas dont even scratch the surface of today's crap. im talking about lower than low a game you can just look at and know its super sucky games like- THIS thats right "santa claus saves the earth" who honestly thought this was a good idea? first off, its a seasonal game and hit bargain bins within a week. i went to gamespy the other day and a reviewer said "90 % of all video games ever made for any system are shitty or mediocre. the shitty ones are easy to spot but the mediocre ones are dangerous" this thread is dedicated to the bad, and the downright ugly games in history. the good ones are great discussion, but lets have a laugh over the most laughable titles in video game history.
Oh, so many bad games, what to choose? First off is any FIFA games from the last 6 years, how they can re-label the same game with nothing more than uniform changes and re-sell it for £40 every few months is beyond me. What's worse is the morons who "must have" the latest version, and even pay people to hack the saves to update the teams to the latest itteration. Also, I forget the name of it, but there was a NES cart out years and years ago, it was unnoficial and had about 600 "games" on it, and cost about £300. Much like the "10,000,000 in one" carts, they were mostly variations of the same game. If I had my old Nintendo mags I would scan the mag advert, it was most amusing!
Superman N64 is always quoted as the worst game ever, and most of the platform games based on Marvel characters are usually pretty bad. In fact any licensed game is 99% likely to suck major cock. Other bad games: Bonzana bros (SMS) Joe and Mac Cavemen Ninja (Megadrive) Total Recall (NES)
Oh man.... Bad Street Brawler (NES)- the most annoying game ever created in my opinon. I hate that game with a passion. Back to the Future (NES) - pathetic of course , many 2600 titles like ET, the A-team, etc, all of which are confusing and unplayable without proper instructions (like anyone would care anyway) Ultimate fighter (snes) sequel to Flying Dragon (Nes)- a kung fu game that has a lot going for it but doesn't manage to pull any of it off, crappy scrolling, shitty looping music, repetitive gameplay. I wanted to like this game, really I did. Way of the Warrior (3DO) the only good thing about this game is the Soundtrack Pretty much every CDI game- I'm sure there are some good games for this machine. I just don't own any of them.
Here's a few stinkers. SNES - Rex Ronan - tells the tail of how to fight disease in a total shite platform shoot'em up. SNES - Paki & Marlin - Yeah, let's all play more educational crap about diabetes. SNES - Any game made by Hi-Tec Expression. They are all complete shite. Mega Drive - Art Alive - Let's make an art game with no save feature but hey, you can always record your talents to video. PlayStation - Cosmic Race - Err?? Is this a racing game without any course direction? Hang on. How do you go forward? Saturn - Wangan Dead Heat Special - This doesn't even have all the sexy women like the other games. It's such a poor attempt at a racing games that you'll die of laughter. Made by Pack-in-Video who are infact JVC. There’s loads more were they came from :smt045 Yakumo
Here are some horrible games for various systems. Most of these games are unplayable, and I think Fight for Life is the best among this list... and that's pretty bad :smt067 PSX - Spawn: The Eternal XBOX - Drake of the 99 Dragons GBA - Mortal Kombat Advance Jag - Fight for Life
IMHO any game that ties to current political events, like those PC games, war genre, with titles like, "Road To Baghdad", "Back To Baghdad" etc this got to be "lower than low" as the thread starter said. just imagine, that game justifying the killings which is ILLEGAL (entering a sovereign country's soil with weak reason, and spit on the face of the United Nations) and the developer seem to make money out of it, thats lower than low :smt009 may as well be unemployed sure this game is not a console game, but just for the sake of the discussion, some of you of course may disagree ;-)
We don't need political discussion in this thread. This thread is about games that are bad in quality, not bad because you think it is illegal or wrong. I am not trying to be mean, but we seriously don't need a political discussion to start up, especially in a thread of this nature.
the only game i havent beat due to lck of interest is phantasy star 3. Everything about that game looks bland and boring. :-(
On the topic of PC games, I saw one the other day that seems destined for the bargain bin: That's right, a Secret Service game. (For those of you who don't know, the Secret Service was originally a branch of the US Treasury Department formed to combat counterfeiting but now are the personal bodyguards of the current President, former presidents still living, their families, and other goverment bigwigs.) I can just imagine a bunch of horribly designed escort missions with shitty AI, or other things in that vein. Protect the President through levels of kidnappers, snipers, rapists, and bombers, and take a bullet in the head for our Commander In Chief in the pulse-pounding final level!! :smt043
How about this generalization: Any game (except sports games or other games encdorsed by a real person) with real people on the cover. That's genearlly a sign of a bad game, IMHO...especially for consoles. On the political thing: Good taste and bad taste aside, those are technically "seasonal" games -- Desert Storm/Strike was slightly different as one was a sequel to another. I can't remember any other war/crisis situations that became a major released game while the event was still fresh in peoples minds.
don't worry alien workshop, I meself do not want any political debate in this thread, thats why I use "IMHO" at the start of my comment. I understand your concern... no worries Im just not convenient with some people making money in the game industry using such "concept"... really is bad.
There are lots of PC games that are made to be a failure. Most of the "Tycoon" games, like: Lemonade Tycoon, Mall Tycoon, Cruise Line Tycoon, Ski Resort Tycoon, etc. Probably the only exception on that line is the Railroad Tycoon
Correct me if I'm wrong but Sid Meir was involved in that one. It seems as soon as he stops working on a series (see Civilization: Call to Power) it turns to crap.
Every PC game ends up in the bargain bin. I saw Half Life Platinum edition brand new for $5 at a local gamestop. A few months from now Doom3 will be $20.
Hence the thread title 'instant bargain bin games.' As in, bargain-bin worthy from release. As in quality-deprived. As in instantaneously combustible crap. My vote goes to Floigan Brothers (DC). Yes there are much worse but considering the time and hype trhat went into this thing it's disgusting.
