Hi there. I Am looking into building a pc. here are some specs i have drawn up. http://www.gamecrate.co.uk/Intel%20Core%20i7%20PC%20Cost.docx Please feel free to help me out by changing PC Parts to minimize cost. It would be great if you could minimize the cost to around £400 or a little over..... dont worry about missing parts as i will recycle them from the old pc. Thanks for the help guys.
Maybe you should give some details about what you intend to do with that puter. To me it seems a bit weird to build a 500€ rig with an i7 CPU... for those who don't have a newer word version (why the hell didn't you just post the few specs you provide in this thread o.0), he wants: CPU: Intel Core i7 860 Price: £208.74 Motherboard: ASRock P55M Pro Price: £78.83 RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 6GB Price: £101.34 Case: Xclio SuperTower Black Price: £40.19 PSU: 700W OCZ ModXStream Pro Price: £63.95 Price: £493.05 - Do not use stock CPU coolers. Your CPU and it's OC potential (if you're into that) will suffer. Calculate 50€-70€ extra for a nice cooler with (a) good fan(s) if you OC. - I'm not a big fan of ASRock. You buy cheap, you buy twice. - Is that supposed to become a gaming rig? Get a new generation (low cost) graphics card, your old one will probably not cut it, especially with that relatively potent CPU. Wait for the new Fermi cards maybe. - Do not re-use old slow HDDs, very fast Terabyte HDDs costs 60€ now. Loading times and transfer rates. - Don't forget to get big, silent fans. - Are you really sure about the case? I mean, ewwww. But that's just a matter of personal preference. Imho, you shouldn't aim for an i7 puter with a sub 500€ budget. There's nothing to minimize, I see only cheap components. You'll have to compromise so often you won't have fun with it. Better aim a bit lower or at least wait a few months. I hope you understand I don't mean to insult you, but I'm sure this won't play out the way you hope. I've recently built many i7 rigs, and all of those were on way higher budgets. Maybe you own a GTX295, have loads of new 120mm fans around, a great S1366 cooler and quick new HDDs... but then you should definitely mention that.
Don't spend too much time or money on incremental ameliorations with regard to your PCs power. It's not willy-waving when money is involved=p
Agreed on the motherboard. Don't go too cheap or it will always be the bane of your PC owning life. For the OS, go with 64bit.
