Spent a while a few weeks back trying to see if anyone had managed to make the Intellivision Flashback modded to take original game cartridges, without success. It was a pity that the designers didn't incorporate the function as I am sure they would have sold a lot more units if they did as it would mean games not built into the system could be played, also no need to use the menu system to play a game directly.

Anyone know if anyone managed to do the mod successfully?

I have proper Intellivision consoles too.

The controllers are as bad on the Flashback I believe as the original as made to be similar. I don't have an Intellivision Flashback though as if I had one the only reason would be for proper composite video, better than the original consoles could provide. Not sure about the Flashback but on other Intellivision plug'n'play or even PS2 collection, they are not the same games as the originals, hence why i'd use original game cartridges. If the Flashback cannot be modded to use original game carts, I won't be getting one. Hence question.

I was under the impression that these Flashback consoles were NOAC with hacked games, I know the handheld PnP ones are. So I would assume this would mean no to your question.
I was also told that there is a dump of the ROM,s from one, however I have been searching for years for one of these dumps so that I could make an Astrosmash NES cart, with no luck and no help from the person who dumped it unfortunately.

^^ that. Nearly all of the retro consoles were mostly NoaC clones.

Only Atari FB2 and some Genesis clones can have cart slot. The rest are not emulating original system.

Intellivision is not an easy system to make emulator hardware that can run native ROMs. It used weird address and data muxing and required crazy decoder logic to use EPROM for loading games on a real console. You'd have an easier time getting something like Pi to run software emulator to run Intellivison games.
