Hey, well I've just recently gotten into really starting to collecting older video games. Well today at work we happened to have an Adam come in that my manager let me have for $30. For some reason I was the only one that cared about it. Unfortunately it didn't have any datapacks with it though, so really so far I've only been able to use it as a Colecovision. I've been looking online to try and find some stuff, I found this site, but I'm not sure where I should start as far as what cool programs, games, and accessories I should go after, or if the prices on that site seem pretty high, and someone has a better option. Anybody have any pointers for a young collector?
Tips, eh? Always, ALWAYS store your tapes away from the machine and for the love of God remove them when you are done. The Adam was basically an electromagnet on startup and had a tendency to erase magnetic media near it! You went to Google and typed in Coleco Adam, right? I got loads of hits. Try: http://www.adamcon.org/
Yeah I did read online that you're suppose to not put tapes in until the machine is on and take them out before turning it off. I've done a bit of google searching and got a bit of info and on the pointers page 80% of the links are now either 404s or just basic information about the Adam. I'm kind of interested in the extra memory and the disk drive. I'm assuming though those are primarily necessary if I'm looking into doing any programming, or are there any other bonuses? Which is fine if it's just for programming because I want to get the SmartBASIC tape at some point to toy around with.
