So I just got asked to leave the local 3DS event, because I took these pictures. Very informative.. I was speaking to one of the guys there before this. This 3DS event is only using Development units, and as of next week they are swapping to Generic 3DS's. Dev Menu? Confirmation of Development Unit They seem to of hand labelled this 3DS's firmware. This was a Dev Firmware, and the home button was disabled on it. The reason I got asked to leave, was not because of these pictures, but it was because they didn't want me to take pictures which are front on. Side on was alright, but front on was not. I'm guessing this is due to making the 3DS look bad. My review on it will be posted soon.
Nice pictures, thanks for sharing! To complete them, I can give you the full fw version noted on the white stap: it was "0.14.10". I've seen it during a test session in France But.. the menu at the top screen is a bit different of the one I've seen. On mine, there was another info displayed: the memory mode used (64 mb on my console when I played a proto of SSF4).
Nope, not THE game. I think that the dev 3DS are working like the DSi debug consoles. The bottom screen is used to navigate between the major functions of the console with tabs ("Programs", "Import" etc..) to manage everything. So, for me CTR-N-HASP is a program, but not necessary a game. We'll have the confirmation soon when a member will have a dev console like this one in hands to check.. but it could be any Nintendo application. This is just my theory (and you can slap me if I'm wrong :crying , but the second part of the serial is just a letter to give the region code of the app/game. "P" is for EUR, "E" for USA, but "N" is not a region and could be just used to distinguish "N"intendo apps. Actually on your screenshot the program CTR-CARD is launched, and the infos about the cart are displayed on the top screen. CTR-ARRP is Ridge Racer 3D EUR cartridge.
The events in Germany back in February had dev units as well. Some of the 3DSes had no Home menu and some did, though with two dev applications at the very end of the list. I started one of them but only got to see the 3DS loading screen for a little while and then decided to go away, lol. Didn't want to get into trouble and later I saw that the 3DS was restored. One of the Nintendo reps told me to not take pictures of only the screens, but photos with all of the 3DS visible were okay. I didn't attempt to only take pictures of a single screen anyway and I was glad they didn't tell me to leave or so. And I think it is sufficient to just tell the people not to do that, I found it a little surprising that they asked you to leave just because of that.
"CTR-N-HASP" is System Settings "dlplay" is the 3DS port of DS-Mode download play "Config" is a developer application see here Just so you know
