If it works out to be as powerful as hey say it is, we're in for a treat. http://www.forbes.com/global/2006/0213/070A_print.html
But will it run toy story in real time? Will Sadam Hussain try to import them to be used as a weapons platform? And isn't that only half as many calculations as the PS2 was able to do?
If it is as fast as they say it is, then the bus is going to be one hell of a bottleneck. Then again, it's not like anyone will know how to program for it for a few more years...
Like forbes is such a reliable source! Go ask all the guys who went nuts after the internet bubble burst...
Yes, but it was the combination of way ahead of its time co-processors that made the Amiga so powerful. Using far superior graphics hardware plus an incredible sound chip made the Amiga like nothing else that was out at the time. I still use my Amiga on a regular basis, and I have a couple games which were pumping out semi-polygon graphics before the concept even existed. Not to mention being able to use my Amiga as a virtual synthesizer which still comes in handy for some of the musical work I do. Amigas were down right amazing, still to this day if you consider how far ahead of their time they were.
EVERYTHING that is ahead or revolutionary is comdemned to fall (unless is not that cool or new). BTW, did you see those new amigas?
