Thought I'd start this after an interesting game I played last night.

I was playing Monopoly on the Sega Genesis. It was me vs computer. I set the rules so that I started with $300 and the computer with $0. (Yeah, I know. I cheated...) I got first roll. Rolled 11. Landed on property and bought it. Computer rolled 11 and landed on the property I just bought. Had no money or holdings since it was first turn. No moneys or property when money is owed = bankrupt. Game was over in 1 turn and under 30 seconds.

Got any interesting moments that may never be repeated happen to you while gaming?

There are quite a few... a more recent one happened about a week ago. I was playing my dynasty on NHL13. I play the NHL series with the difficulty on max (superstar) and the sliders adjusted in favor of the cpu. I had a game where it seemed like no matter what i did, every shot i took went in. the game ended at a score of 17-2, in my favor. Doubt ill ever do that again, lol.

When I was a kid, my friend and I were playing Toy Story for the Genesis. We activated the invincibility code by accident. I still don't really know how we did it. We beat the game rather quickly after that.

I hope I'm just taking it wrong but I myself suffer from autism.

Who am I kidding? I don't suffer, I revel in it...

Could be something else. the DSM V has changed the critera for Autism. But did not take my proposal
for cave shmups being used in the diagnostics for the Test for Autistic Savantism.

I just couldn't help thinking while I was playing Heavy Rain "this must be what it's like to have Autism"
Granted a few people might be offended by that but, those people also probably haven't played Heavy Rain.
It really fucked with my head for a few hours until I started No More Heroes.

    Speaking of games with Autism...

That girl in Ico. Pretty sure she's autistic, I speak from experence my sister is autistic...being out in public with her is exactly like Ico.

Thing is You can't really pick out autistic traits in video games unless you either have a form of it, or like I do have family with Autism and have been around a large number of people with Autism.

SO I guess in that sense, I stay on topic.

Good point. Guess I can't complain then. I know that I'm autistic because I was diagnosed with a very high functioning form of it. Possibly a new type altogether.

The way you describe those games makes me think the same thing. Maybe the programmers were autistic or the main director was? LOL

There's something on GameFAQs about it, it doesn't sound difficult to do. It's a pretty tough game, I can imagine it might be a bit more fun with infinite health/lives.

    Oh I got one :)

Playing Starcraft on N64 with my cousin, we were playing both together against 2 NPC, on the map Eruption, he was Terran I was Zerg, we paused the game at some point to watch a TV show and have dinner, we set the controllers on the floor and sat on the couch, switched the TV source to cable and by some time accidentally one of us hit the start button on one of the controllers without any of us noticing it, so the game went on while we were watching TV.

By the time we realized, our bases were almost completely destroyed, and the NPCs were blazing through the map, but we didn't give up, we had some resources saved up and 1 small colony each, it took us about 8 hours to turn the thing around in our favor and beat the crap out of those NPCs, ending up in a total of 10 hours for the whole match, I will never, never ever forget that Starcraft match. Never.

I was playing Street Rod 2 on msdos, an early 90s game where you are a teenager in the 1960s buying hot rods and parts, fixing them up, and raceing them in glorious CGA graphics. During the course of the game you sell your cars to get cash to buy new cars/parts.

You have the option to type in whatever number you want for the sale price - but generally speaking, you have to sell the car for less than what it costs in the game's newspaper. Most cars are like $1000 or $2500, some of the higher end cars in the game might be over $3000 (I guess this is supposed to be 1960s money). I was going to sell a car for $2700, but accidentally typed in $27000.

Usually if you do a typo like this or try to sell the car for a ridiculous price like $999999, the fictitious customer will (literally) say "no way!" or "blow it out of your ear!" but when I did this typo, the customer bought the car and I pocketed this insane (for the game) amount of money. It was a total glitch in the game that I was never able to repeat. I did save my game afterwards so I could enjoy having the money to buy whatever cars and parts I wanted. My brother was sitting and watching me play when this happened and was just as surprised and shocked as I was.

I just remembered another one I had. This was on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 for Dreamcast. I was playing a free mode level trying to see how big a combo I could make. After doing board stands, grinds, and all that good stuff I finally ended with close to a 100 trick combo multiplied by my final trick that was a big grind around a swimming pool edge at high speed. final tally? 10,000 points multiplied by like 100. I didn't have any cheats either. All skill. Took like 30 minutes to get it all done and I was sweating halfway through thinking "SHIT!! I've never done anything like this before. Hope I can keep going to make a 100 trick combo." I think that from the final trick tally and multiplier combined with the other tricks I finally ended up with a 1.5 million point trick

Sadly that save file corrupted and I lost it...

Maybe the Dreamcast was in shock and awe at my score and glitched up corrupting the file? LOL

I like that. I remember when I used to play Starcraft on the PC and having games like that. Good times.

    Hell yeah man :)

Back in the day it was hard for us to get to do LAN games, and we couldn't even think of Battlenet, besides at one point one of us lost his Starcraft CD and it was really hard to get games back then, so we had to go to the N64 version, but even though it was crappier and way slower, it was damn fun, we had great times and were full of matches like that.

Luckily later on we moved back to PC, and continued playing up to this day, we do some matches every now and then when we are not in SC2 ;)

    PS: Post # 2000!

About 2 months ago, I was playing Mario Kart 64 with my friend. I forget what course we were playing, but I do remember that somehow one of the NCP's (Peach) teleported from last to first by some sort of glitch. Since that NCP was slow, it eventually fell back to 6th. Odd glitch, wonder how it happened. Nether of us were even close to last and we noticed when we both went one place lower and Peach skipped 3/4 the map and was in first.

Another story was with the same friend a while back. We were about to play duck hunt on his Retron 3 console. We put the cart in and it came up with colors as well as binary (0's and 1's). He was going to reset it, but then I suggested we try playing it anyway. Surprisingly it actually did play. We slaughtered many glitch ducks that day.

Even more amazing than that combo is the fact that you were playing Tony Hawks 4, which was never released for the Dreamcast! (now 'that' is amazing!)

    I suspect a typo :)

You're right. Remove the 4. It was Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. No 4 in it...

That's even more impressive as Tony Hawk 1 didn't have manuals/wheelies for you to connect tricks together with. you would have had to have landed every trick into a grind in order to keep the chain? (as someone who has played the tony hawk games, this sounds impossible lol)

Agreed. I don't know of anywhere in the original THPS where you can get anywhere near a 100+ chain of tricks, not even warehouse. A million points at the end, maybe, but 100+ chain?
To keep the chain you would have to grind or wall ride in number 1. So maybe you were mistaken thinking it was THPS1 and THPS4?
