..as well as allow booting of CD-R's on unchipped PS2's.

This is great for those who want to play homebrew stuff on their PS2 but don't have a modchip. Just create a MAX compatible CD-R with tech demos, emu's etc and it will boot(I assume you have to boot with the AR first and then swap though).
If only it could boot imports :smt009

The American Action Replay for GC allows you to play imports.

But hmm. I hope this isn't for just UK and PAL countries. I would to get my hand on this so that I can watch all of my anime divx (over40gigs worth) on my PS2 instead of PC and DC.

It doesn't say anywhere that you can run software from the burned discs, only that their MAX Media Player (which will include a Megadrive emulator) can read them.

To bad they still can't make a disc that will alow you to run imports on your PS2 !!!!! :Hangman:

  6. Yeah, what's up with that? They can make an import boot disk for a Gamecube, but not a PS2. Guess it's more profitable to sell modchips, as most people want to play backups instead of imports.

    See Sony Vs. Channel Technology.

  8. Hmm, found a bit of info on that case, and while I have no problem with a modchip maker getting theirs, I rather think the judge was talking out his arse on the whole part about the copy of the game stored in memory being unlawful if it's an import because it wasn't licensed for use in this particular area - everyone knows that a full copy of a game cannot be stored in the machine's memory at one point, so even if you WERE brilliant/desperate enough to extract the contents of said memory at any given time, it would be useless. Next they will be telling us that games images we've seen and stored in our minds will be unlawful if they're from unlicensed games.... :smt019

It's so sad to see the court systems becoming more and more a tool of large corporations used to protect their asses.

Is it possible for one to hold the court in contempt? :smt097

YOu can buy a dsic that lets you play imports, teh Swap Magic disc. I have one and it seems to work with all my imports....But I believe Silverbolt has one and has had some trouble with his one.

Either way, It lets me play my imports without forking out loads for a modchip ^_^

Yes i have one of those and it's a piece of shit if you have a newer model PS2 because basicly it won't boot import and mayve 25% of all backups.

So i need to get another boot disc the "breaker pro" that one i have been told will enable the playing of imports on even the newest model PS2.

Damn guess I jumped the gun a bit. I suppose burned discs will just be for MD Roms, Divx and MP3.
Still it's a tidy little piece of software.

  12. Yeah, I'm familiar with the swap magic discs, but they only work in tandem with a bit of hardware as well - the fliptop case mod (actually my current import solution) or the slide key thingie that I swear cannot be good for your door motor. I'm wanting something that's just swap and go, like FreeLoader or DC-X, or even the one that was released for playstation.

I've had no problems with my door so far....and the slide tool thing opens it with no problems (opens smoothly and makes no bad noises ^_^). Anyway, most places you buy the Swap Magic discs give you teh slide tool free with it.

Same here, i'm getting pretty tired of using the slide key, although my ps2 drive door isn't being affected because i don't use it often.

Just install a modchip like Messiah2 , DMS3 or Matrix Infinity.

It recognizes everything automatic. Plus DMS3 and Matrix Infinity are upgradeable. As soon as a new bios is released you burn a cd with it, put it on the PS2 and it upgrades the original modchip bios.

Another thing. Those 3 modchips don't force or destroy the cd drive or other stuff, since they go to a "sleep" mode after the media is recognized.

I play imports with my PS2 for more than 2 years and no problem happened. I'm going to replace my modchip on june or july, because the version of messiah2 on my ps2 is an old one. Plus i'll probably install DMS3 or Matrix Infinity because their upgrade ability, and they seem to work without problems even with Sony original HDD installed (something i plan to have till the end of the year).

I`ve used a combination of the "No Solder Mod" and the "Swap Magic" discs for some years now and never had any problems. I just have to hold the open/close button for 2 seconds and the tray opens for 7 seconds in which I swap discs. I`ve found this to be the cheapest & easiest method of booting imports/backups.

i just want a disc no modchips or stuff because i'm not willing to pay 50-100 euro's for having one installed and frying my PS2 within a year (yeah okay it doesn't happen all the time)

But most people i know with a modded ps2 have been through 2-3 ps2's due to modchips breaking down on em and i'm not in the position to buy another ps2 if the thing breaks.

  19. Yeah, I too don't want to mess with modchips, because they do drasticly shorten the life of your system, plus since my soldering skills are awful (let's just say I don't have the hands of a surgeon) I'd have to pay to ship the thing to and from some modding company and trust that they do it right.... no thanks. The current fliptop case I have isn't bad, except when I replace my PS2 I'm going to have to void the warranty to install the thing. So you guys say the slide key is a decent solution? How does this work without stressing your door motor?
