OK So I need a little help here, I just decided to TSOP one of my version 1.0 xboxes. Soldered the appropriate spots and booted Hexen, Flashed the TSOP with the x2 5035 bios for F & G. Flashing completes and the xbox turns off. When I go to turn it back on it shows the x2 config live loading screen then when the Flubber animation comes up it stops playing almost immediately and the audio continues. It never loads any further than that. I've concluded that it has something to do with that bios. I installed a Smartxx v2 chip that has both the 5035 bios on it as well as a older x2 bios. The older version will boot up the xbox fine but if i choose the 5035 version the flubber animation stops with the chip as well... Now my issue is this, am I stuck with having to use a modchip to make this unit ever work again or is there a way to reflash the TSOP with a different bios? I've never had this be an issue before =/
Could you possibly remove the TSOP chip and reflash it with a programmer? That's my only thought with this.
You can re-flash the TSOP as many times as you like. I have tried multiple TSOP's on the same machine. However if you cannot get the Xbox to boot from the Hexen disc, then it is a different story? Try booting the hexen disc with the modchip installed, then removing the SmartX chip once the the Hexen menu comes up. Then re-flash the TSOP, I can't be sure this will work but I seem to remember reading about using this method somewhere?
I think hex may be right and that's my only option. That or swapping the chip with another v1.0 or v1.1 Xbox... I already tried booting the Xbox with the chip to load hexen then removing the chip. It says the flash isn't writeable, my guess is once the Xbox is told to boot from the lpc it won't change back to reading the original bios chip.
It honestly shouldn't matter if its there or not. Ive flashed v1.0 units with the same BIOS many times without worrying about the x2 config file before and never had a problem. I've even tried a different HDD that works in a different Xbox that is tsoped with the same x2 5035 bios. Same issue, the flubber animation stops almost immediately and the boot audio completes 100% but the Xbox never loads a dash or loads a disc.
I know the file doesn't have to be there...Maybe try throwing one on there and jacking around with some of the options.
Fixed! There was a x2 config file on the HDD. Removed it and created a new one. Still Locked up on Flubber animation. Opened up x2 config maker on my PC and created a config that skipped the Flubber animation completely and it worked! Not sure what the deal is but apparently it had a issue with the bios and playing the Flubber animation properly. Thanks guys!
