I recently ordered an x3 modchip from www.themodchip.com. They were listed as an official reseller, and they had the chips in stock at a reasonable price so I decided to order from them. Big mistake. I placed my order on 12/25/05 and selected 1-2 day shipping for my order. Nearly 2 weeks later, I am still waiting for my chip. I have emailed them 2 or 3 times now and have received no response. The listed phone number goes straight to voicemail and no one seems alive in their irc channel (#themodchip.com on EFnet). I found the webratings thread for the shop on xbox-scene and other people are having the same problems:

I will never purchase from the store again, but is there any way I can file a complaint for fraud or take some action so I can get my purchase or a refund back?

You know, I bought a macrovision decoder from them a while back, and it said two week dilivery. The device arrived after about 3 1/2 weeks. Late but it showed up. It also doesn't work half the time. So this place is one of those "buyer beware" kind of places.

Anyway, it's been my experience with places like this (not neccessarily modchips.com, but other import/modchip grey market type-sites ) that they have a tendency to lagwith dilivery and fall short in the customer service department. Keep bagering them with emails, like every single day. Don't give up becasue eventually somebody will get mad and contact you just to get you to shut up. And although you're angry, give them every chance to send you the product, half the time it's just a guy in a room in the back of a run-down store somewhere who doesn't know what's going on.

If they won't give you you're money back you can always dispute the charge (assuming you paid by credit card?) However that's a long, complicated process and it might just be easier to wait until the store decides to send you the item.

These are the dangers inherent in internet shopping I'm afraid.

Sounds like a case of the BUY-RITE GAMES.
I hate ordering on the net from lesser know retailers.

Did you pay with a credit card? Do a charge back if you did.

I bought myu DMS4 from them... I think it took about a month and a half to get here. It shipped out of germany in what looked like a media mailer bag. By the time it showd up, i had forgotten about it and was wondering why someone would mail me a random chip...
