http://kotaku.com/gaming/clips/gdc07-clip-the-ps3s-home-242341.php Wow I dont think anybody was imagining it was something like this. -- added bonus -- http://kotaku.com/gaming/littlebigplanet/clips-littlebigplanet-242305.php Little Big World from the makers of Ragdoll Kungfu (also for ps3).
Either that or you can get out a meet some real people, is Sony on the verge of creating a new generation of virgins??? Anyway idea is cool, lot alike 2nd life or no-life as I like to call it, personally it looks like a lot of walking for nothing, XBL does that with less fuss. Good that Sony has finally an online strategy eventhough it looks like smoke and mirrors. PSO inspired not revolutionary but has the merit to exist. Final comments? Well I can't say that Little Big World doesn't look inspiring to this day I still like 2D games. Home might get a few people out and buy a PS3 (finally some sales for Sony). Pffuuu with silly ideas like Home, I still don't understand why people didn't dig Shenmue as much as Fifa crap. It will be interesting to see hack and mods on this Home thingy, cause seriously changing hairstyle and hat to have your "style" what a pile of crap is that!!! I wanna be a Jedi on Home not a moron's replica, shit where's my lightsaber??? Sabre
I like the concept of it. Sort of reminds me of a older map for half life 2 that was going for the same realistic feeling. I just hope the developers will support the trophy feature (Since some developers do the achievements on the 360 in somewhat of a lazy manner, like they are trying to get out of it). Also, how widespread will the beta on Home be? Will there be a public beta where people with a PS3 can download it?
what does everybody find interesting in that kind of thing? Guess i skipped the myspace culture boom.
seems interesting, more interesting than xbox live. hopefully nintendo can also make a matchmaking service thats interesting (the mii's seem perfect for something like this)
It looks cool to play around with but after about 30 days I'd probably start passing on it. I remember thinking how cool it was to pick items for my "crib" in NFL2K5 and after I threw up some paintings and put in a few couches I didn't return. And seeing someone else's house? That will be cool for about 30 seconds. The cinema idea is cool, tho. I like the videos on the wall. I could see myself visitng that from time to time. Unfortunately, I'm beginning to think that any online system that relies on the good nature of others is doomed to fail. There are just too many people who sign on for the specific purpose of ruining the experience for others. For this experience, guys will pretend to be girls, groups will learn how to trap you in a corner so you can't move, mods will be made to get all the good stuff that the regular Joe will have to work for. I'm just brainstorming here but things like that come to mind when I see this type of online world.
Hmm, looks nice, but doesn't really appeal me... won't buy a PS3. And come on, it's much easier to use a computer to do all that stuff.
seems like something that would be fun in the beggining but.. i m already wasting enough time on msn for example, and i dont have to move around and think to much to type to ther people really
To sell some PSP units , they could make a PSP version for on the go, for people without any real friends and so on
This will sell a ton of PS3s in Europe and Japan, I reckon. Nice to see Sony pushing the envelope. I wonder how Microsoft will counter this move?
I'd like to mirror the sentiment of a few of you before me. I don't see the point in wasting time virtually walking to virtual destination just so I can access content that I can get instantly through other means. Hell I need to go out and buy food for dinner in a few minutes and I'm sitting here wishing I didn't have to trudge through the streets to get it, why would I want to add the very menial task of transportation onto my leisurely media based activities? I would like to visit my local LaserTag arena, if I had both the option to drive/walk there or be instantly teleported into their waiting room, I think I'd take the teleportation.
Home looks like it takes way too much effort for me to ever want to use it. What I've always liked about the achievement system is its simplicity. The little number next to your name, followed by a simple list of achievements to earn per-game makes it very addictive to boot up a game to see if you can boost that gamer score a few more points, and is a big factor in my booting up the 360 instead of the Wii or another system. The charm of Miis is the simplicity, also. You play around creating Miis until you get bored, and then after that there is really no farther investment on the user's part, and the Miis often show up in various games to make the feature feel worthwhile. If the Playstation Home guys don't ever show up in games, what is the draw of making a character for users who do not feel like participating in the Second-Life style game packaged with them? Little Big World does look awesome, though.
Man this looks an awful lot like the lobby in PSO, but some minor tweaks here and there doesnt make a 6 years old concept come back to life. With all the money linden labs is making with SL it doesnt surprises me at all that the whores at sony are trying something like this... Man, between the nerdy Nes-Zelda virgins, the Genesis-Sonic virgins (which are furry oriented) and the FF-emo virgins of the PSX humanity is doomed for sure, "children of men" style:lol: Couldnt agree more:nod: At the risk of getting my ass kicked in a future ASSEMbler convention, I gotta say I was thinking the exact same thing while playing Shenmue back in the day.
