No, not yet. As far as I know, there's plans for one more round of private testing before they're offered up for sale. They've also got it working updating via the SD card.
anyone recomend a good model famicom to nes convertor? if i fail to get a powerpak i may get the invitenes. i heard about tracking down some old nes carts with hidden convertors in them but that may be a bit hit or miss. i would be hapy to pay for a good convertor if they are reliable and can still be found.
The place that will be selling these (http://ramfactory.com/) sells a Famicom to NES converter, so when it's finally released they probably will have a deal on getting both the converter and the inviteNES itself.
i would probably just order one those convertors from that ramfactory store along with an invitenes. i'm wondering if the invitenes would be a superior product to the powerpak. i've heard a lot of good things about the powerpak and some negative but i would love to get a nes flashcart and right now powerpak seems to be the best bet but this invitenes may turn out to be way better. sd support is a good thing and from what i gather it has more memory and i think the saving system may be better (if you don't include the third party custom state save mappers made for the powerpak) the only thing that could let the invitnes down is if it has bad game compatibility compared to the powerpak which has fairly decent compatibilty after mix and matching official and third party mappers i believe.
Are there no plans for an Everdrive for Famicom, then? What are the features of this? What can/can't it do?
afaik KRIKzz isn't planning to do it since it'd be alot of work in regards to all the mapper support you'd need to code when the powerpak is already around I wish someone was doing some cheap repro runs of famicom -> nes in-cart adapters
one of those fam to nes convertors on that ramfactory site would be fine and the price is reasonable. i wonder if you could fit that convertor along with the invitenes board inside a regular nes case? i know you could do that with one those nintendo converotrs hidden inside early edition games like gyromite. put all the roms and system mapper files on sd card insert into invitnes board, attach invitnes board to the convertor and screw it together. would only have to ope it to update the sd card for new OS updates additional mapper supprt or if new homebrews come out. i should imagine those convertors on ramfactory were designed to fit inside a regular nes cart? my bad... i just visited the ramfactory site now to have another look and the picture of the convertor clearly shows it sitting snug inside a nes cartridge shell... DOH!
I have one of those Super Joy 3 Famiclones I was thinking of making into a little TV game system with all of the NES era games inside. I would like to use the InviteNES/ Famicom cart since this Famiclone has the cart slot on it. Of course, an original NES game pad won't work for the casing due to the size of the Invite cart. Gotta think of something else...
not that great but considering i seen that honey bee convertor thing going for over $30 and up to $50 then $20 seems not so bad lol.
I stand corrected re: Everdrive I can get Famicom to NES converters locally for $20, a great price point to me would be $5 a pop
It looks like there are several new NES flash carts on the way. Should be interesting to see how well they compare to the PowerPAK in both quality, features, and price.
