    Hey Guys

I'm thinking about getting an ipad but I'm a bit worried because I use pop3 outlook 2007 email. Two concerns: Syncing my current messages and establishing an IMAP account to handle new messages.

I talked to my hosting company and setting up an IMAP account is pretty easy. I use the same email address but set it up for IMAP. It won't carry over old emails but it will work for new emails after I set up IMAP.

That's decent enough, but I have thousands of messages stored in outlook. I can't really start from scratch. I'm guessing that I need to sync my old emails with the pop3 account, then start using the IMAP account with the same email address. Problem: Does that mean I'll need to also set up a pop3 account to be able to respond to older messages? I'm guessing that any messages I sync from pop3 will need to stay pop3, so in the end I'll have the same email address twice....one as pop3 and one as IMAP.

Is that the gist of it? Am I missing anything?

    Thanks!

you can't sync your mail directly from your computer to you iPad, you can only sync account settings, that's your main problem.

I'd forward your old mail on to a new POP3 account and then convert the old POP3 to IMAP. as far as I know this is the only way it can be done, without having problems with mail disappearing using POP3 and IMAP of the same address!
