I was looking at what other items this seller had for sale and I found this auction. An iPhone 3G 16 GB (AT&T) sold for $1,834.01! The ironic thing is that it is a zero feedback buyer who won, but look at the bid before this zero feedback buyer. A red star buyer (over 1,000 feedback) had a maximum bid of $1,809.01! How could something like this sell for twice more than an iPhone 5??? eBay Auction Link - http://www.ebay.com/itm/281088806190?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649
First off it's not even a 3G it's a 4 (providing the picture is theirs). The answer is likely to be that it's the seller and a friend bidding on it themselves for fun with fake account. I'm guessing it wasn't fetching the price they wanted so they decided to have a bit of fun.
Im assuming he's talking about the percentage ebay takes from the sale, whether there friends messing about or not ebay takes there%.
All you would have to do is open a dispute and eBay fees will be refunded. So there would be no loss of money from the sale. Sometimes people have huge asking prices and folks drive up the price with no intention on paying. All a shill buyer gets is a stupid non-payinng bidder strike that goes away after a while anyhow.
You dont even need to do that. The seller opens a "item not paid for" dispute, then "buyer" loses and the fees are refunded. They dont even really do anything to the buyer account either. You can even mutually cancel the transaction and the fees are refunded too.
