Siri is the "killer app" not sure how killer though as I've seen the Galaxy S2's voice recognition and that is FANTASTIC.
Upgraded to the 4S yesterday. After going from a 3GS (never updated firmware because never felt I needed to, if it isn't broke don't fix it), I have to admit that it differs very little to what I've already been experiencing from two years back. The hardware changes are obvious, phone is ultimately faster, smoother and brighter, however it doesn't really offer anything truely dramatic. Siri is cool, I guess, when it actually decides to understand my accent, setting reminders with your voice is quite stressless as opposed to using the keyboard which could be a bit long (I'm using it a lot when I'm cooking), but it is probably more of a gimick and isn't really necessary unless you're using hands free or in some specific situations (and it requires access to the internet to work). The biggest changes imo are mostly aesthetic and don't really change the way iOS works at the core, just changes the way things look and adds a few new features like the drop down notifications bar. With the release of the "4S" I don't really think the name "iOS5" does it justice and would have probably been worth waiting for the iPhone 5 to make some truely big changes that really change the way the operating system works on a fundamental level. In the end the home screen still looks like the home screen, my apps are all still the same apps and mostly organised in the same way they were before, so my phone isn't really all that different it just has a few new sparkly bits to it.
I'd like to be able to delete Newsstand (and a few other apps I've thrown into a Useless Shit group) from my iPod Touch, but no go on that. I'm not even able to throw Newsstand into the Useless Shit group (or any other group for that matter).
Upgraded a few weeks ago. Is it just me, or is battery life really reduced now? The phone seems to deplete the battery faster now even when in standby. No matter though. Come April I'll upgrade to a Windows Phone...I used to love the iPhone but now I find it to be a pretty limiting device made to appeal to Apple hipsters.
I'd go with Android man, I've used a couple people's Windows phones before, and they're just plain awful and more locked down than the iPhone.
I've got an ipod touch 2g and 4g that came with IOS5 new, the 4g has a MUCH better capacity battery but holy crap, my 2g on IOS 2.2.1 can last a few days, 4g just about lasts a day, quite a big joke in my opinion =/. Also, what gives? On my 2g, when I wake it from sleep, the light fades in and looks nice, on the 4g it just instantly goes BRIGHT with no fade at all - errr?
Running a 4S with iOS5 (obviously) and it is not bad. Really quick and stable for me, does suck the battery down though. I really want to try out the Nexus Prime though, only a few weeks away....
Well, I just tested the iCloud backup feature and the restore does work. Aside from my music files, everything was restored the way it was before.
