PC ENGINE GAME BOX!!! Need I say more? The bad news is that if you're phone is set to English you'll get the shitty dark Turbo Grafix splash screen and the God awful American artwork for the game covers. Set your phone to Japanese and you'll get a fresh and bright PC Engine splash screen along with all the great art work. There is a good selection of Konami, Irem and Hudson titles to start you off with. Each day you'll be able to play a 3 minute sample of a different game. Today's game is Gradius. Games cost 315 yen here so they aren't too cheap. Also on my 3GS I found the emulation to judder a little at times. Then again I was downloading in the background so that could have been the reason.
The price is right but I still think I prefer my buttons. I also kind of question if it hits the USA store (as of this post it's not on the cnd store and we tend to get stuff when the USA store does) http://www.hudson.co.jp/pcea/jpn/title.html < they run on psp
Odd. I see it now but it didn't show up this morning when I searched under hudson. =/ -edit- Grrr. Not compatible with my 2nd gen Touch. :dammit:
Retro games on a touchscreen, who cares? It'll be fine for non-realtime games (RPGs, basically) but for the rest it'll just be frustrating.
Apple should really consider investing in some form of haptic touch feedback for future devices. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUs_NMg7wXo&feature=related If developers can make it feel like your pressing a button at specific points it would go a long way in improving touch interface. Imagine cut the rope and actually feeling your finger go over the rope when you cut it.
I tried Gradius and it sucks trying to play it with the touch screen. The iPhone sucks as a gaming device, in my opinion, because the touch screen and the accelerometer aren't accurate enough. What is the touch pad seal you're talking about, Yakumo? Are you talking about these? http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/11/05/buttons-for-your-iphone-games-tactileplus-stickers-might-work/ I wish they made a Saturn pad that would plug into the dock connector. I would buy that in a second.
How do you actually use those? Do you take them off when you're not playing a game? If so, won't they get covered in stuff? Do they work with most games? Also, are you able to procure those?
You know I was actually thinking on making something like that a while ago, but thought nobody would go through so much trouble to play a game in a touchscreen. And actually thats the case, which is why angry birds and the like are the most popular games in the appstore.
No, Angry Birds is popular due to the casual gamer. The latest Spiderman game by Game Loft looks and plays very good even on a touch screen. But because it's a 3D scrolling fighter it's just not as popular with the mums and office workers.
Yeah, most of the games there are, but I'm talking about the UI, the whole slingshot thing? that was meant for a touchscreen, not a mouse or a pad
